I've started a notebook where I write a page of praise, a page of admitting sin, a page of thanks and a page of requests every morning. I'm enjoying it and it has helped me so much to dig deeper as I see my praise on paper or it's sobering to see my thoughts and attitudes in print. This is proving very meaningful and helpful. Anybody else tried this? I am speaking at a conference next month and am thinking of sharing this idea. I'd like to hear other's experiences with this type of prayer.

In a scene before the user battle's Satan to beat the game, the user plays "Number of the Beast" a song that features the chant "6-6-6".

Is "Guitar Hero III" an instrument of the devil? Is this perhaps the most un-Christian game out there? Why isn't the Catholic League and the fundies up in arms about this but they're up in arms about "The Golden Compass"?

I think primitive man created "God" to explain the unexplainable. If you study all the religions of the world you also notice that earlier gods where barbaric, reflecting the times they where concocted. Notice as humans became more civilized so did their gods. Coincidence?

Christians report seeing white light, Jesus, aura of love and compassion. What do people of other faiths report, and how about atheists?

I lost my dear mother this past summer at the age of 65 and was discussing this on a forum which was crawling with fundamentalist Christians. Most of them wasted no time in telling me that my mother was burning in hell for the grave sin of being a catholic. My mother was a sweet and loving person and would never harm another, and kept her faith to herself. Where does this HATRED come from?

I just had to ask.
I see it so often, usually by people who want to discredit atheism. And since there is a spellcheck... Is this supposed to mean something? Is there a play on words I'm missing here?

The other week Julia was walking in one of the rougher areas of London. Half reading a magazine not really paying attention where she was going, suddenly Julia sensed danger and looked up to sea two people approach her. Julia also sensed that there was someone behind her, she looked into the eyes of one of those approaching her, then looked at into the eyes of the person behind her, then she looked directly into the eyes of those approaching her and made herself look ready and hard, Julia realizes she cannot prove that the people intended to mug her, but Julia is knowledgeable enough of the ways of the city to know what was going down, Julia's intended adversaries bottled out and just walked past her then talked to each other and started throwing stones into the nearby canal. Julia is grateful she sensed that danger and was able to react to the threat, what was the sense that helped Julia in this instance?

This Bible contradiction is so fully apparent that it's difficult to see how Fundamentalism survived one Christmas. How Christians with intellectual integrity reconcile these two disparate points of view. (The "one is thru Mary and the other thru Joseph" apologetic is clearly denied in the text itself.)

Luke 3:
Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melki, the son of Jannai, ...

Matthew 1:
... Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Eliud, Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

I've been told you can't read the Bible like a normal book, from page 1-end. I can't get through the Old Testatment. I'm more interested in the New Test. Just not sure if I should start from the begining of the New Test?

From what I've seen of them, they're nothing more than some twisted Christian's sick attempt to give kids nightmares and scare them into going to church.
Does anyone actually believe that they are a good idea? Kids as young as ten watching scenes of teenage girls gushing blood after a fake abortion? Or seeing a "homosexual offender" screaming in pain and pretending to die of AIDs in a hospital bed?

Maybe something like the plot for the film Equilibrium, where a quasi-religious order of clerics enforces the law.

God's servants would monitor Its followers day and night. Those failing to conform might be sent to be executed, or to centers to reeducate them, or in extreme cases perhaps wipe their memories to make them quite literally "new" people preloaded with the state's doctrine.

Atheism, agnosticism, secular humanism, and any other free-thinking type philsophies might be banished.

Stuff that curtails liberty but which is morally desirable might become the law of the land.

What kind of things do you envision such a religionocracy might do to the nation?
