People have reasons for making decisions. Same goes with the individuals who choose to become atheists. Could be that they weren't given enough reason to believe in religion. Perhaps they had bad experiences with religious fanatics therefore they renounced religion in general. Confusion may also become a big block in the road. There can be several too many obstacles to justify a person choosing to walk this path. It's weird though because often these nonreligious individuals seek spiritual help in their death beds.

Why is atheism highly opposed by numerous people?

What is your take on The Left Behind seris? Do these books, though fiction, make you question your salvation? Do you believe that if the Tribulation were to happen today, it would be like what is described in these books?

If baptism is an outward sign of an inward commitment, honestly, what's the point? Christians publicly profess their faith anyway, why is the extra "show" necessary ? I know Jesus commanded it, but it sounds like a rather frivolous thing to tell us to do, especially when the thief on the cross didn't have to get baptized. Maybe the Great Commission should have been the Great Suggestion.

Such as that there were "three wise men" who "followed a star" or that Mary was a "virgin" when she became pregnant or that Jesus was killed by the Romans under the wishes of the Jewish rabbis. Can anyone point to any document that was written from an outside and non religious source that has enough historical significance to be considered as proof which gives credence to the Bible and religious writings? And, if so, to what extent does that outside source verify biblical details. And, which ones?

I hear a lot about Wicca being a modern religion and neo paganism is at times looked at as not valid, but is there really any that have remained untouched by modern society.

Just wondering your thoughts no really right or wrong answers.

Also Christians this is for pagans only so please refrain from judgemental comments. I believe we all know your opinions. That is okay and right for you but please it is not for us.

Many say no and point to the fact that animals do not have the intellect or sense of self that humans have.

However, to those that bring up these points, do you lump all animals into the same category above simply because they are not human? Remember, many animals have human qualities:

Examples:

Dolphins, elephants, parrots, chimps/gorillas/bonobos clearly have a sense of "self", which means that they are sentient, just like humans; they recognize their "selves" as individuals in a mirror and realize that is THEM, not another animal of the same species.

Chimps have recently been shown to have a greater capacity for counting and remembering numbers than do human beings.

Bonobos "make love not war" just like humans, they are the only animals who use sex to diffuse tense situations, make up after a fight, and just "have fun" without regards to mating cycles, just like humans.

Parrots not only have a sense of "self" but some also an intelligence equal to a 5 year old child; do some research on “Alex” the African Grey who was trained by Dr. Irene Pepperberg if you have any doubts or questions, he died while she was starting to teach him the alphabet and was going to move on to reading simple words such as “cat” and “hat”. Many parrots, mostly African Greys, are capable of carrying on simple conversations in HUMAN language (much as gorillas and chimps with sign language), ask for what they want or need, and say the appropriate word or phrase at the appropriate time (such as saying goodnight when the lights go out).

How can these types of animals not have a soul if you simply equate “soul” to human intelligence and knowledge of “self”?

The old laws allowed divorce but then Christ says in the new testiment that you are an adultery the rest of your life if you divorce? So GOD would expect women and men to stay in abusive marriages? Someone please explain!

Does it say anything to atheists when it's a known truth that the elite people of the world (mainly American) are either Christian or Satanic? If you look into the secret societies of the world, you will find most of them worship Satan, which means, they are not an atheist. So is being an atheist like being nothing?

I recently asked a question about a perfect god creating a harsh world. One answer i found interesting said that due to the fall of man at the Garden of Eaden, God cursed the Earth which is why we have starvation, disease, pain sorrow, etc. So my question now is, if God cursed mankind to an etenity of evil and darkness, why are Christian people still worshiping him like he's lord of all that is good? I'm not trying to make anybody mad i'm just lookin for answers, thanks.

And routinely commit the greatest of evils on their fellow creatures?

Jesus' message was one of Love and compassion; Jesus was a self-realised soul that knew all about what it is to know God, and he taught respect and sactity of all life, and love for all of God's creation.

Yet they own and condone slaughterhouses where millions of animals live miserable and hellish lives, where they are de-horned, de-beaked and castrated all for the sake of 'meat'.

Not to mention God's First Commandment in the Bible.
Thou Shalt Not Kill - not Thou Shalt Not Kill Humans, not even Thou Shalt Not Murder, it's simply:
'Thou Shalt Not Kill.'

Also, do you hear any mention of meat in your Garden of Eden? Nope. It was paradise, and a paradise without death.

The taking of life is the greatest of offences before God.

So, anyone, answer me this, how can you say you're a righteous person and still condone the torture and destruction of the Lord's creation?
