Righteousness itself implies a "work" so saying work, work peace. Or righteousness, righteousness peace. Makes no sense to me. The result of this "work" or "righteousness" being quietness and assurance could have many intended meanings. Considering the context of the book of Isaiah I believe it to mean "financial security and early retirement".
Peace and Good Food.

Isaiah is telling us that when the Spirit is poured out on us there will be peace and it will result in righteousness and quietness and assurance forever.

(John;7:38-39) "the "result" of this...from Isaih;32:15... and only "Born Again Believers" can obtain the Promise (John1:12..)hope this has helped.."Peace!"

1) It is not a question of what it means to me, or you, or anyone else, it is a question of what it means. What it was meant as, what was actually said.

2) I'm looking up the meanings of the original Hebrew words.

3) My explanation of what it means:
"Righteousness will produce(the Hebrew word means a transaction, and implies making something) wellbeing (this word could be used for peace, for prosperity, for good health, for anything of that type)" And then it basically repeats itself. I would note here that to repeat oneself in Hebrew was the equivilant of putting it in bold print.

That which is unrighteous (sin) is always in eternal conflict with goodness and truth. To sin goes against the very intent of our human nature, which was supposed to be in union with God. Unrighteousness is destructive, is the absence of goodness. Conforming to the Good brings peace, because we have returned, through our own free choosing, to that which we were meant to be in union with and that which we are to do in thought and deed.

I really love Isaiah, don't you? Very powerful stuff there.

The only way to do a work of righteousness is by having God do them through you by His Spirit. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Peace, and Jesus is how we obtain it, by trusting God. That's by faith.

A truster of God is content. We know that God has our lives in His care, and then we can go to Matthew 6 and have Jesus tell us about worry.

God really does care for us, and He listens to us when we talk to Him. Peace means 'cessation of againstness'. We are 'ceasing to be against God', and then peace flows through us as we trust Him.

It means to me that if everyone does right, there will be peace in the world.

Like Ghandi said: Be the change you want to see in the world.

What is Righteousness -- obeying the Religious Leaders?

So they will not bother you and you will have peace of some sort?
