Lain: Saved means giving your life to Christ. Repenting of your sins and being forgiven of them by God in Heaven...the Father of Christ. For one to be Saved they must accept that Jesus Christ was born for the reason to redeem us/save us.

As a few have pointed out.... Once you are Saved...you only get Saved that one time....Where the difference is....some believe you can backslide and not make it to Heaven. Others believe that you are going to Heaven no matter what after you are Saved.

I believe that Christ came for the lost not for those that had/have already found what they want.and those that believe once saved always saved, have found what they were looking for,so they have no need to look any farther. they live by their doctrine and are asleep to what is going on around them. that doctrine gives them a alibi/excuse not to have to stand strong in the Lord. because it doesn't matter what my happen in their life they can always fall back on the once saved always saved.

I read your question and looked up some scripture:

1Corinthians chapter10,

Galatians 5;4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
(that tells me that a fall is very much possible).

2 Thessalonians 3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
(sounds like a fall is more than possible)
2 Peter 1;10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
(again it says to me that a fall is very possible).

I know many people that follow this doctrine and I love them with a great love given to me by my Father in Heaven through my savior Jesus Christ.
it saddens my heart greatly to here there sad stories but in them I have learned why many follow the doctrine of once saved always saved. many times the truth is unbearable to them
I know a woman that wasn't able to conceive and have children so she adopted two babys at their birth, about two years apart. she was a great mother and loved her children, she felt that she had been greatly blessed of the Lord to be granted these beautiful children. now, her son received Jesus Christ as his savior at about the age of 10. He was a very good boy he went to church every time the door was opened and all the elders of the church loved him. he greeted everyone with love and was very kind.
at about the age of 17 he started drinking it wasn't bad at first but as he grew older he drank more and more he became very abusive and stole from any one that he could including his mother who at the time was taking of her husband, his dad who had cancer. she prayed for him often and talked to him about the Lord. he did not care he only wanted another drink. years went by and he got worse and worse to the point that his mother was at times afraid of him.
when she tells me of these times I cry for her, it is so clear how much she loved her son.
she recalls the phone call, in tears her son was dead he fell over in the bath room floor in what the doctors call an alcohol seizure ( this happened about 20 years ago)
but she holds on to the once saved always saved and I do not have the heart to go into what the scripture says about a drunk. I do know that there is no greater pain for a mother than to bury her child, so I try not to add to her pain.
If you get to know people that believe once saved always saved you will have a greater understanding of why they believe this way. it doesn't make it right but it does give us the understanding

Salvation is an on going process and needs to be worked on daily. God will never take the gift of salvation from us but we can reject it even after accepting it. Look at all those who were once Christian and now are atheist, are they still saved or have they rejected the gift of salvation? One must work on their relationship with God daily. Just saying I accept God and thats it is not a true relatonship with Christ. One does not just sit back and say "Ok I have accepted God and I can do what I want now cause I will always be saved no matter what sin I commit" True salvation requires one to repent and turn from sin, to follow the commandments, be baptized and read and study the bible and to go to church.

"As the Bible says, I am already saved (Rom. 8:24, Eph. 2:5–8), but I’m also being saved (1 Cor. 1:8, 2 Cor. 2:15, Phil. 2:12), and I have the hope that I will be saved (Rom. 5:9–10, 1 Cor. 3:12–15). Like the apostle Paul I am working out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12), with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ (Rom. 5:2, 2 Tim. 2:11–13)."

As for me, My opinion ?
Can a Believer "Lose" His Salvation?

Or Stated More Accurately, Can He Forfeit It ?

Has God indeed said...Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away."? (Luke 8:13)

The scripture clearly teaches BOTH the sovereignty of God AND the free will of men. To deny this is irrational, and must be caused by something other than reason based on scriptural precepts.

The scriptural position is that a person who is saved can forfeit that salvation. The bible teaches those at highest risk of forfeiting their salvation are those who are newly saved, and those who continue on in known disobedience, after being born again.

The elect are those whom God chose, whom God foresaw would both trust in His Son AND who would endure or persevere in the faith given them until the end of their physical life, or the return of Jesus.

Those whose hearts are seeking the Lord with all that is in them, should have no concern about "losing" their salvation. Nor should they have any concern about forfeiting their salvation.

Salvation cannot be lost, but it can be forfeited - this is the nature of covenants in the bible. The bible no where guarantee's someone that salvation once received cannot be turned away from or forfeited by the individual that possesses it.

Receiving salvation involves man's will, and not works. Forfeiting salvation involves man's will, and not works. In the same way the Lord did not force His salvation on anyone, He neither forces anyone to remain in the covenant.

YES ; Once Saved , always Saved , Jesus only died for your sins` once and only once !!! The false idea that you can be saved multiply times means that Jesus would have had to die for you and your sins` more than once ! As Jesus said on The Cross " IT IS FINISHED " !! There are no do-overs with Salvation , you either get Saved and you turn away from the sins of the world and live for Jesus or you don`t !

No, I don't believe in "Once Saved, Always Saved" (OSAS) for many reasons. The clearest example that I've ever ran across was in John 15:5-6 which states:

"I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. Those who do not remain in me are thrown out like a branch and dry up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burned."

We see here that a person can be part of the vine that is Christ, a member of the Body of Christ, ie saved and yet still be pruned and thrown into the fire.

So it seems pretty obvious to me that you can still be thrown into the fire of Hell even after being saved.

God Bless
Robin

I believe it is scriptural that "once saved, always saved". It's also realistic. We sin every day. If we had to be "re-saved" what time would be left over to do His will on earth? The Bible says that nothing can separate us from Christ, once we belong to Him we are forever His.
I believe that the salvation experience is different for everyone. Sometimes people experience it immediately in a emotional way, other times people work their way toward Jesus, drawn to Him through His love. We only need ask Him once for salvation. Forgiveness, however, is necessary on a daily basis for me.
We need to know that we can rely on Jesus, no matter what. As a human, I sin without meaning to-in attitude, behavior, words. When that happens I feel an immediate contrition, I know I have done wrong and I need to repent. That is His Holy Spirit working within me.
The day I reach perfection will be the day I go to be with Him.
Edit: If we can't trust Jesus with our souls, we have no hope. How could a Christian go through life thinking, "If I do something wrong, I could go to hell." That's why Jesus died for us-we do not have the ability to live perfect lives, He asks us to trust in Him, not in what man says, but in what He says.

salvation is a gift you will never be forced to keep it.
you can't "lose" your salvation but you most certianly can give it up. just as a dog returns to it's vomit.
2 peter 2:20-22
21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
John 6:66
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
hebrews 10:38
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Galations 1:6
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
2 peter 2:15
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness
James 5:19-20
19Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

The Apostle Paul doesn't

Galatians 2:5
We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might remain with you.

Galatians 5:4

4You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have FALLEN AWAY FROM GRACE.

Yes I believe that once you are saved you are always saved. Now as for the scriptures to back this I don't know. The reason I believe this is if you are truly saved then your going to live a life pleasing to Jesus Christ. As for me religion I have none because religion is made so man can try to understand God and I know that while I'm on this earth I'll never understand how God thinks, but if you would like me to put a label on my faith then I'm a Christian.

No, i don't subscribe to the "Once Saved; Always Saved" theology. I'm a Roman Catholic. If you want Scriptural support for the Churches stance on this error in doctrine consider what happened to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts chapter 5. This one of many theological examples of why the "Once Saved; Always Saved" doctrine is false.
