And routinely commit the greatest of evils on their fellow creatures?

Jesus' message was one of Love and compassion; Jesus was a self-realised soul that knew all about what it is to know God, and he taught respect and sactity of all life, and love for all of God's creation.

Yet they own and condone slaughterhouses where millions of animals live miserable and hellish lives, where they are de-horned, de-beaked and castrated all for the sake of 'meat'.

Not to mention God's First Commandment in the Bible.
Thou Shalt Not Kill - not Thou Shalt Not Kill Humans, not even Thou Shalt Not Murder, it's simply:
'Thou Shalt Not Kill.'

Also, do you hear any mention of meat in your Garden of Eden? Nope. It was paradise, and a paradise without death.

The taking of life is the greatest of offences before God.

So, anyone, answer me this, how can you say you're a righteous person and still condone the torture and destruction of the Lord's creation?

I'm talking about animals. Obviously, we have to eat something, but plants don't have as developed a consciousness, plants don't suffer, and plants don't feel pain.

The correct foods for humans, the foods we're designed for, and foods which don't cause unneccessary suffering to God's creation are grains, fruit, vegetables, milk and water.

Violence towards each other or our fellow creatures is abhorrable in any form.

Hogie, do you not see that that's exactly what we should be doing?

By purchasing and consuming the end products we're condoning the miserable place from which they came; you should lead by example!

If everyone in the world stopped, then these places would have no choice but to close and we'd move at least one step closer to true peace on Earth; how can we ever hope to achieve peace between humans when we can't even refrain from killing an innocent cow?

Think twice before you order that next whopper with cheese.

Wow, what a twisting of words!

Do you honestly think that a person who has decided to follow Jesus (the bringer of the message of God's love) condones hatred and murder? C'mon, that would make no actual sense. Obviously, if they condone murder and hate, they are not followers of Jesus, right?

And for your information hon, regarding animals, you are aware that the very texts Jesus preached from gives specific instructions for how to burn sacrifices .... of animals? Are you aware that diet-wise as humans we must consume protein, and we are actually meat-eaters to a certain degree? Did you not know this?

Tell you what, you go move to the middle of nowhere and have a little farm .... come on back in a year or so and tell me how that worked for you. Raising a chicken, collecting eggs, killing the chicken and plucking the chicken is hard work; I'll pay someone else to do it.

1. We are made righteous when we accept Christ as our Saviour...through his shed blood. We are not righteous in and of ourselves.

2. Jesus also ate meat.....you'll find that in the Bible. Eating meat was not forbidden in the OT or the NT. God even sent the Israelites meat to eat when they were wandering the desert.

3. God's commandment "Thou shalt not kill (=murder), does not apply to killing animals for food.

4. Christians do not condone the "torture and destruction of the Lord's creation." But killing animals for food does not fall into that category. (If slaughterhouses torture animals, they will answer for that.)

Feeding ourselves necessarily means taking the life of another being -- be it plant or animal. Barbara Kingsolver's book, "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" has a wonderful section that explains first, humanity's inability to live a life without meat (we evolved as omnivores) and the incorrect claim that vegetarianism means that no animal life (be it a bug or a gopher) was harmed in our effort to feed ourselves.

Jesus was no vegetarian. He ate lamb at every Passover. He helped his followers to catch fish (Luke 5:4-11), which were for eating, not displaying in an aquarium. After his resurrection, he is seen in John's gospel broiling fish on the beach. (John 21:9)

God's command not to kill is a command to refrain from murder -- humans killing humans. The story of the Garden of Eden is a myth that explains how a perfect God, who created a perfect creation, can reign over a world in which exist sorrow, pain and misery. You will also note that after the Flood, God decreed that "Every creature that is alive shall be yours to eat; I give them all to you as I did the green plants." (Gen 9:3)

Given that, I could argue (but I won't) that it is a religious duty to eat meat!

If you are going through a faze in your life where you feel the need to defend the defenceless then more power to you. The fact is some people like to have a nice juicy steak and a cold beer. It's just the way things are. I personally think you should put your energy to good use. Go work on a farm for even a week. It's someones lively hood.

Some people claim christianity but are really not. Real christians who want to be "Christ like" will not committ those kind of acts. We have the Holy Ghost and no one with the Holy Ghost will do evil things

Regarding the garden of Eden, when Adam and Eve sinned, God provided them with the skins of animals to wear. God killed animals in order to do this.

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. -- Genesis 3:21

Jesus told a man he healed of leprosy to present himself to the priests and perform what was written in the law as a witness to them.

Matthew 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

What was this gift?

Leviticus 14:1 ¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest:
3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper;
4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:
5 And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:

But what is of even greater importance here is the act you have committed in your "question."

You have leveled an accusation against others, denying their Christianity should they kill animals for food. Jesus declared that whatever condemnative judgment we level against others will be turned on those who make such judgments.

This is all a matter of conscience, and as such, we have no right to judge others who do not agree with us regarding such issues.

Yes, it is deplorable how animals are treated prior to, and how they are slaughtered. But don't condemn the Christian who goes out and has a whopper with cheese because of it.

You have absolutely no idea what you're writing about.

Every single thing you mentioned is either twisted, or totally wrong.

Perhaps you should try a different category.

Because eating meat IS written about in the scripture, and it tastes really good!

I made a duck just last night, and tonight we're having seafood chowder.

btw-- eating plant foods also destroys nature, you know.
