Is studying Divinity studying to be a minister whereas as Religious Studies is simply learning about religion of whatever kind you're studying? Also, is it true that most ministers need a doctorate or at least a aster's in Divinity before they can become ministers? So, besides going on to get your master's, what could you do with a Bachelor's of Divinity? Thanks for your help!

How does a theist accept that their god has always existed.... just is.... always was, always will be…. but can't accept that the universe could have started with something like the big bang. The big bang actually has some logical ideas behind it. There is evidence that science is on the right track. God has always been has nothing but the notion that ‘I have faith’ behind it.
Isn't that like saying I don't care what evidence is in front of me, I'm going to believe what I want anyway?

the scriptures?
God clearly says the only way you can be forgiven is through him, not some pope. Also don't hold anyone higher than God (pope, Mary?) Also salvation is a free gift, not of works....also do not change, add or alter the Bible, yet they have their own catholic bible. I could go on and on........

I'm pretty sure the New Testament teaches over and over that you have to follow the whole law or be guilty of it all.

If you are tithing, then are you stoning, sacrificing on altars, and adhering to the entire law?

Then why are churches teaching this one law as obedience to God??

I can't imagine people are gonna be too thrilled once they realize this is anti Christ teaching.

People tell me that I need a history lesson because "the bible is not 1700 years old!" But it is.

Synod of Hippo in 393 AD is when the Holy Bible was made.

Some people tell me that I need a history lesson because "The Book of Revelation is the last book written!"

But it wasn't. Many books were written after it. (Check it out here http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/ )

Some people tell me I need a History lesson because "The dead sea scrolls aren't scriptures about Jesus and are strictly Old Testament!"

When in all actually they talk about events from 200 BC to 70(ish) AD. And I do admit I may be confused...but wasn't the Gospel of Judas, Gospel of Thomas, etc. found in the cave system??

That atheists only focus on man-made things or human nature (sin). Why won't they just read the Bible and live their lives for God and not humans? Christianity and having a relationship with God has nothing to do with Christmas and the date or Easter, or pagan sounding carols or lost people who created denominations that are wrong. We could do without ALL those traditions they have NOTHING to do with our relationship with our creator!

For 1 Corinthians 6:9 says not only will homosexuals not inherit the kingdom of God...but also, adulterers...

Luke 16:18 says he who divorces and remarries another is committing adultery.

So, if a person divorces and remarries they commit adultery....and unless they turn from their sin, by being celibate in their new marriage...they continue to live in sin....so, apparently will go to hell too? They can say sorry as much as they want...but, if they continue to enjoy the pleasures of their intitial sin...they never really turn...

So, why aren't fundamentalists railing as hard on the divorced as they are on gay people? The divorce rate is over 50%...so the sin of divorce affects a lot more people than gayness....further, divorce has ripple effects in our society...as it affects the chidren of the divorced, and our public welfare system, etc...

and Happy Yule? And Happy Kwanzaa, and Blessed Be, and Have a Good Holiday???

Don't you people know how insulting that is to grumps like me who love to be insulted by every positive and caring thing that comes out of people's mouths?

What are you, a bunch of anti-grump bigots? We don't wanna hear it, see it, or even know that it exists. We won't be happy until everybody is walking around grumbling curse words at everybody else and hope they all get strangled on their "Christmas" sugar cookies and poisoned by their mistletoe.

So get with the program, and get as grumpy and grinchy as I am, or else I'll report the lot of you!

Thanks for your attention. Harrumph.

I don't fear dying, just the method of death. I just don't want it to be painful. Even if I am wrong, and there is no God, it doesn't change my position.

Please state if you believe in God or not. I think those that believe in God would have less to fear but I may be wrong.

Hello world. Controversial subject here. We all know that
fornication, and adultery is wrong. So my question is
this. Let's say that you and a person was in a relationship.
But that man or woman, just so happen to be a divorcee.
Or in other words, out of a bad marriage. Now you 2
become intimate, with one another. One is single, and
never married. * Take note. It is not wise, to marry that
person, according to the Word. But is it really the same
thing as adultery, when you have sex, with someone
who has already been married. But is not considered
so, by law. It being the law of the land. Does this act,
still constitutes as adultery in the spiritual world ?
Or is it just fornication..... Yes. Another classic moment.

So I was reading the Bible this morning than i got to thinking i know in the Bible somewhere it said that jesus' followers were tested and i mean has anyone ever thought about back then it was not like the technology we have today.... And back then he cured the blind, cured the lepers...To tell people im here and im alive and real..... And today in a modern world with dna and going to space.... do you think this is a modern day testing of the beleivers of God to leave just enough evidence to question him like the big bang theory, evolution, i mean because then the disciples of Jesus were tested so why not test his worshipers today.. so all in all to understand it.... Does anyone beleive that evolution and the big bang theory is just to test to see if you will continue to believe in God or be thrown away from religion because of science?

Im not expecting any atheist to answer either because the questionis directed directly to Christians.

I was involved in a car wreck this morning. The other guy couldn't see me because the sun was in his eyes. The first time he actually saw me was after we collided and he got out of his truck and shielded his eyes from the sun. Instead of backing out a little bit to allow me to pull over to the side of the road (he was imbedded in my van and I couldn't move until he did), he started praying. So I yell a little louder can you please back up just an inch so we can both get out of the road. He either pretended not to hear me or was too deep in his prayer cause he just stood there with his eyes closed and kept praying. We have traffic all around us and people are pissed and honking and the guy just prays. After 10 minutes of this I say I think jesus would want you to get in your truck and back it up a little bit. He gets pissed hops in his truck and slams the door and just sits there til the cop gets there. Cop gets there and yells at him to move his truck.

Hebrews 4 :12 shows us that the Word of God is living and operative and sharper than a two edged sword.
Why is the Word referred to in such a way.I am particularly interested in the " two" edged part of it.

Ty for all the verses to support your answer and for taking the time to post

A 10-year old aboriginal girl got gang-raped by 6 men in Australia. The rapists got NO prison sentences. Only 12 month probation.

http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapc...

What are your feelings about this?

1)The aboriginal girl didnt provoke the rape, she was innocent just 10 years old.
2) There were no prison/jailed sentence at all for the RAPISTS! Raping a 10 year old innocent girl. The sentences in the Australian case fly in the face of Australian law and public opinion.

I read an article urging atheists to declare victory on certain issues and move on. The author said that any time spent debating evolution or biblical errors is wasted because these are established facts.

(1) Do you agree with this suggestion?

(2) Is there a practical way to "move on"?
