You know, I am a fan of yours. I like the way you think.
But I am sceptical of whether or not this happened to you. It sounds reminiscent of the parables the religious are so fond of. You aren't beating the crazies at their own game are you?
However, if this is true, then it is the most ironic thing ever. You, of all people, get slammed by a religious kook. Now, I know that there are a lot of holy rolling kooks in this world, so I guess that statistically this isn't that improbable, but still.
Anyway, I am glad that you are all right. I would have missed your contributions on here.
And in response to your query: no, that wasn't the best way to handle it. You shouldn't have made him get out of the road. People like that should get to play in traffic.

No. When you've been involved in an accident, if you are uninjured, you should not stay in your damaged vehicle. The vehicle is at risk of being hit again by another vehicle, and there could be a danger of fire, or fumes. I've seen both things happen.
You should get out however you can (take your paperwork/personal effects, if you can), get to a safe spot and immediately get the license plate number off the vehicle that hit you, then call the police. It is your choice if you want to help the other driver, but my advice is if they are uninjured, leave them alone, and don't discuss ANYTHING until the police arrive. If you have a camera, take pictures of the accident scene. If the other person asks for your insurance or registration, just say, "I want to wait for the police." DO NOT LEAVE THE SCENE! You are entirely within your rights to do nothing until the police arrive. Now is a good time to call a friend or family member, so you'll have some support. Review the events in your head, and try and determine exactly what happened, so when you have to fill our the accident report you will be accurate. Make mental notes of EVERYTHING that hurts. Chances are, later on you will be hurting a lot more, and this will be important if you end up filing an injury claim with the other driver's insurance company.
The first time you are in an accident, it's a very traumatic experience, even if you aren't hurt. It's important to follow the above procedures to protect yourself. After you're in a few accidents, this stuff becomes second nature.

Accidents are very stressful situations. I was in an accident a couple weeks ago and was in complete shock. I kept asking the other driver what I should do, even after she told me I should get my information out and call someone like my mom I still kept repeating "Is everyone OK?" and "yeah, but I don't know what to do" Had I been religious I would probably have prayed.
It is best to keep your head but not everyone is able to do so.

You handled it very well I think. I wouldn't have let it go on for 10 minutes. Did he find it too hard to pray in his truck I wonder?

I don't understand what he was praying for. Did he want God to reverse time, or was he just hoping that God would stop him from getting a ticket?
Anyway, I do think you handled the situation well, as it was a difficult situation. I also hope nobody was injured.

glad to hear you are okay!
he was probably in shock and denial. sounds like he just reacted in the only way he knew to settle his brain. but your prayer (and that is what it was) for him to understand what Jesus would do in this situation totally woke him up. it's probably best that you both remained in your cars until the cops came anyway as you could have gotten hit by idiots who have to stare instead of drive.
God watched out for you and the not-so-smart one...

Seems like you handled it well enough. You gave him time to pray, that was nice of you. He obviously wasn't listening to you, so appealing to that religious side would have been my next move too.

Who knows what his problem was. Maybe he's one of those who wants GODs blessings but doesn't want GOD mentioned in public places or is buried in sin but expects GOD to be faithful even when this guy isn't even trying to please GOD. Who knows. The first thing i would have done was to make sure no one was hurt.
