It seems to me that if you don't believe in something, it should be of no consequence to you. So why would you hang out here and devote so much time to the topic?

I can't have dairy, and so it is of no consequence to me. So you wouldn't find me hanging out in a cheese-themed chat room.

I think that's the thing I least understand about atheism. So much time is spent attacking others' belief systems and trying to be clever... why does it even matter to y'all?

I'm a Creationist and I support the '' Gap Theory ''

Note - Please don't bash other users and myself since some people were quite agressive in my questions and I don't feel like debating right now , I'm tired , sleepy ... Of course you may disagree with the Idea/Theory , etc

All opinions are welcomed

In other words, do you believe that we will be caught up to heaven in a twinkling of the eye before or after the Tribulation which is to come? Please provide scriptures supporting your view of whether or not we are raptured before or after the Tribulation period.

If you do not know what the Tribulation is: The Tribulation (or "Great Tribulation") is an event referred to in the New Testament of the Bible at Matthew 24:21 ("For then shall be great tribulation..." - King James Version) and other passages.

i mean when you think about it, what does it matter? you have your thing and we have ours. why do you have to criticize and try to sell us your crap? we don't go door to door trying to sell ours. and if you're right and we do go to hell then why do you care? we choose this. plus, all it means is more room for you and your family in heaven to play ping pong with God. we'll be partying with his favorite downstairs. is it too much to ask you religious nuts to respect our views; i thought religion was supposed to teach unconditional love, tolerance and acceptance. if anything we are closer to God than you by being a good person purely because it's the right thing to do and not a free ticket to heaven, hypocrites.

...if a Christian hits their head and suffers brain damage and memory loss and, as a result, no longer believes in God, he will go to hell if he dies before becoming a believer again?

Here's one perspective:

If someone came up to you today and told you that they had some really good gossip for you...
That they knew a guy over in Arkansas who used to turn water into wine and then one day he went to jail on a drug charge or something... Well, In jail he got shanked and died!
But then 12 of the inmates looked in his cell and he had disappeared...
But this guy was no ordinary convict... he somehow appeared over at the women's penitentary in a dream and told some chick to spread the word that he has arizamajizzn...

And this ALL happened just last week...

Would you believe them or just think they were high?

Any comments, suggestions, insights you have on this topic will be appreciated. I am an evangelical Christian and work with people of the Bahai Faith. I would be interested to find out how many Bahais and how many Christians have been successful in entering into a dialogue about how to interpret scriptures.

...or is it just more rubbish?

QUOTE Socrates used this claim of wisdom as the basis of his moral exhortation. Accordingly, he claimed that the chief goodness consists in the caring of the soul concerned with moral truth and moral understanding, that "wealth does not bring goodness, but goodness brings wealth and every other blessing, both to the individual and to the state", and that "life without examination is not worth living". It is with this in mind that the Socratic Method is employed.END QUOTE

Is life without dialog truly really not worth living?

Mitt Romney doesn't like being compared to the Kingston Clan...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingston_clan

And I'm sure it wouldn't be politically expediant if Mike Huckabee were associated with the Westboro Baptist Church...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church

How about associating George Bush with the very church that prays in tongues over a cardboard cutout in his image:

So what makes it ok for these hypocrites to judge my morality when they haven't even met me?

and why do you believe them?

if stephen king told you his books were true would you believe him too?

when considering that we are really only talking about words printed on paper and bound together as a "book" there is no real difference between the bible and ANY other book that has EVER been printed.

if your answer to this is a quote from the bible, then you are proving to me that you really aren't listening

It seems like every time I check in here, there are numerous questions from so-called christians, wanting to know why it is that Atheist's think or feel or believe the way that we do.

I don't get it.
Why in the world do you christians even care?

I could understand if you were trying to convert all of us "heathen atheists" and save us from the pits of hell, but every single time I see a post from a christian regarding Atheists, they are being antagonistic, hostile, and usually just downright rude! Obviously THAT kind of behaviour isn't going to convince any of us godless atheists to change our ways!
(Who would want to hang out with a bunch of intolerant christian jerks, like the ones I always seem to run across?)

So, do tell.....why are so many of you "christians" overly obsessed with the behavior and motives of Atheists?

Cheers,

As soon as she had finished convent school, a bright young girl named Lena shook the dust of Ireland off her shoes and made her way to New York where before long, she became a successful performer in show business. Eventually she returned to her home town for a visit and on a Saturday night went to confession in the church, which she had always attended as a child. In the confessional Father Sullivan recognized her and began asking her about her work. She explained that she was an acrobatic dancer, and he wanted to know what that meant. She said she would be happy to show him the kind of thing she did on stage. She stepped out of the confessional and within sight of Father Sullivan, she went into a series of cartwheels, leaping splits, handsprings and backflips. Kneeling near the confessional, waiting their turn, were two middle-aged ladies. They witnessed Lena's acrobatics with wide eyes, and one said to the other: "Will you just look at the penance Father Sullivan is givin' out this night, and me without me bloomers on!"
