I am going on a short term mission trip to Urugay, that will cost me about $1,500. I need to write letters to my friends and family, and would love to include a Bible verse about giving. Does anybody know any really good ones?

I am not posing this question to attack him. In all truth, I've never read his work. I'm just curious because I'm reading about Allister McGrath's response to his work (The Dawkins Delusion?: Atheist Fundamentalism and the Denial of the Divine) and it raises some questions.

I know that in general, atheists champion logic. I also realize that Dawkins isn't necessarily representative of some or even any of you, so again, this is NOT meant as an attack. Just wondering if you find his arguments against God to be thoroughly logical. If not, why not?

Thanks!

The only real answers I got to this one fell into two categories: "I enjoy mocking other people" and "others do it to". Neither of those is especially responsive to the question, although I guess the first comes closest, however repugnant I find it. Let me address some of the "issues" that were raised:

I thought I made it clear in the first question that I am not claiming only atheists do this. I specifically directed it at atheists because you're the people I see most commonly complaining about the intolerance of theists - usually Christians.

I also thought I made it clear that I am not blameless in that area either. How that puts me on a "white horse", I'm not sure. I, at least, acknowledge that mocking someone else's beliefs can't be justified, and if I do it and I realize it (because, for instance, someone calls me on it), I'll apologize. (mtc)

There was a big list of things you could without (i pod, comb, soap, family) and the teacher said there were three things you couldn't live without. The class got down to four : God, faith, testimony, and gospel.
Which one should be erased?

The host Alec Baldwin on this 2-hour special said that man used to be as hairy and ugly as apes, that man millions of years ago looks just like overgrown monkeys and had small brains. I'd HATE to think that was true.

That's like saying Adam and Eve, were freakin' apes or looked just like apes. I hope the theory of "Evolution" is wrong because if Adam and Eve looked like that, than that's disturbing.

I'm considering fasting for Jesus Christ to strengthen my relationship with him. I will go on only drinking water, no food.

If you've done this, can you tell me about your experience? Any advice? Was it hard? How long did you fast?

Is it illogical to think beyond my own existence? Is it more logical to think only of those things that I can immediately see, what is in the media, and only of the things that my four senses dictate?

As a person of science, I do not have a belief in religious texts. I was raised in the church but that led me to reflect upon my beliefs and I became agnostic/atheist (doubtful about the presence of a God).

I detest war and i find religion can become the scapegoat for many evils.
I love all mankind equally as my brothers and sisters and believe in the beauty of life, the importance of one's family and friends and respect for each other. I simply find science too evident over theology.

Because of my beliefs, I have been heckled and ridiculed for not believing in a God even threatened with violence.

Can their be a world where those of faith can tolerate atheism or is that impossible? If so why?
