Is it illogical to think beyond my own existence? Is it more logical to think only of those things that I can immediately see, what is in the media, and only of the things that my four senses dictate?

My question isn't getting a lot of hits, I should of put the attention grabbing atheists and theists in the title. I might repeat it later, I don't know.

I think some people are very concrete thinkers and seem to be able to apply logic and reason only to material that registers on their senses. If they are asked to process purely abstract information beyond the most basic level of reasoning, they simply can't do it.

Other people have the gift to be able to do thought processes involving the use of logic and reason on a more abstract level, and they quickly master doing so.

I think these two groups of people have a difficult time communicating with each other, and I have heard each accuse the other of being fools.

Which is hardly kind . . . or just.

So I steer clear of people who accuse me or others of being fools, and instead concentrate on listening to people who do a good job communicating the products of their own thinking.

Well, no! It is in fact a sign of intelligence and maturity. If you go just by what seems obvious, you will not reach anywhere and not know anything worth knowing.

But, the vast majority is unfortunately not blessed enough to have such questions. They are content and in their illusion that they know everything. They will try to pull to back to the "seen". If you are brave enough to venture alone in the path to discover yourself beyond obvious, you will be delighted on your discoveries and the world will never be the same.

Enjoy the journey...

There is the world of the "seen".
Our senses need to be sharpened, and time not wasted to perceive all of those things around us!
------------
There is the world of the "unseen".
This is perceived when "Wisdom" dawns within man!
This is when man is allowed through "Grace" to examine those items that are beyond the ability of mans mind to understand.
------------
*Take note: Those things that you suggest are beyond your own existence, are intermingled within your own existence, from the beginning-less beginning throughout eternity.
"I did not stutter when I stated this!"

May you find what you are seeking!

Nope, it is a common human trait to look beyond yourself for meaning other that what simple existence brings. You may find answers, if you do, share them, if you don't keep looking or give up.
