I knew a lady down the street from us that her husband...everyone knew he was beating the crap out of her and the church said. basically.."You have to stay...blah, blah, blah"...and she eventually died from a blow to her head...and he was NOT prosecuted because he just said she died from a fall...what a jerk of a man!! the whole neighborhood was shocked that he was not prosecuted...because we could see the bruises on her..but the church would NOT let her leave.!!!!

We studied James in Sunday School yesterday. I love the book of James. I wish we could study it for more than one lesson as there are so many things in it that we were forced to skip over because we only had one hour to discuss it.
Do you have a favorite passage or verse from James? I don't know if I can pick just one, but I'll try to include a few of my favorites later on.

And that beliefs are primary basis of worth for people?

(And how does this affect their actions toward others, if at all?)

I, like Dr. King, dream of a day when everyone will judge eachother based on nothing more than the content of their character.

In Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said: “I shall greatly increase the pain of your pregnancy; in birth pangs you will bring forth children, and your craving will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.” God tells Eve he will INCREASE the pain of her pregnancy.
Which must mean that she would feel pain anways..only now that she sinned she will have the pain increased, right?
But if she was perfect..how could she feel pain?
Does anyone know what I am trying to ask?

Planet Mars being so close to the Earth in the next month will be a sign of anything to come. Experts are saying it will be able to be seen with the naked eye
According to computer models, in ancient times Earth and Mars had near fly-bys at multiples of 55 years. It was so regular and often so catastrophic that generals are said to have planned their battles around this. Maybe this is how Mars got named after the god of war. It's speculated that Mars caused Joshua's long day (Joshua 10), appearing in the morning sky 50 times the size of the moon on the day of his battle with the Amorite Kings
Earth and Mars are converging for a close encounter in December.

"As Earth races towards Mars, the telescopic views are becoming increasingly spectacular," says Petersen.

Later on it kind of ticked me off because it is a direct violation of supreme court rulings on the first amendment. What personally do you believe and how do you reconcile your religious beliefs with the law of the land if you have to at all?
