I was raised Christian...I am now atheist, as I have been for the last 8 years. However, I still find Christian rituals rather comforting, and I believe that if I were to have a family, I would want to bring my children up with some faith. I, myself, cannot believe, but I can appreciate the faith of others.

Is this wrong if no one else knows about my lack of belief? Do you think this would cause any real long-term problems?

Do you have proof that He does not exist? Did something happen to change your life? Did you used to believe, but move away from it?

What do you say to people who try to convert you? Does it make you mad to hear someone talk to you about God? How do you feel about death? Do you think anything will happen after life?

One last question, and this isn't related to the above. Are you happy with your life? Is there anything you would want to change about you, or the world?

And please, this isn't the time to bash God, faith, or religion. I want to know exactly how you feel, just remember to be respectful. Thanks!

BELIEVING THAT GOD IS REAL IS NOT GOING TO MAKE HIM REAL.
We will never know if there is a god or not so why isnt everyone an agnostic
How do you know that the bible is the word of god?
If you have faith that the bible (you believe that the bible is the word of god w/o seein evidence) is the word of god why dont you have faith in Unicorns and Dragons
is it because there are no negative consecuenses if you dont believe in them?

This does not mean that I am afraid of reality. I accept evolution and I even welcome science. I know these things are real partly because I am studying them (studying for RN degree), plus I work in a hospital. Despite that a belief in God, doesn't not erase my ability to conceptualize reality.

...the dinosaurs? They not only believe it, they are so delusional that they think they can actually show evidence of it. It is incredible that religion shamelessly, and proudly, perpetuates such ignorance.

I do not believe that Noah's Ark ever existed. Basically, I want to know what other anecdotes in the Bible are disputed. Did they happen or did they not?

Jonah and the whale would have to be another one.

If so many stories are disputed even by Christians, does that allow you to further question Christianity?

I notice that not a single answer (with the exception of a couple of obscure references to coins) provided any specific details as to why anybody actually believed in Caesar or the acts he performed during his lifetime. Overwhelmingly, the answers centered on first-hand contemporary accounts. Of course, the New Testament is composed primarily of first-hand accounts of Jesus' life. So why is it that Christianity is deemed unreasonable and mocked by atheists while they are willing to accept Caesar's life without actually having read any direct evidence of him (since no atheists actually provided any specifics)? And is it true (as the responses suggest) that atheists accept many things as factual without any evidence? Isn't this absolutely contrary to atheists' claims?

I've been told stuff like this by friends.

I've heard there is a fallout shelter inside every Mormon church. That they have a year's supply of food and possibly weapons and communication equipment.

Now, I don't personally know any Mormons, but I've also heard that this information is 'classified'.
I'm not joking or making this up, just repeating what I was told ad trying to find out some real facts.

Is any of what I say true?
Am I dead wrong?
Since I'm not LDS, can I even be told?

SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY, PLEASE.
Otherwise, I'd have stuck this question over in Polls and Surveys.

The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."

"O unbelieving generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me."

At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other...Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

beliefs? I know you understandably fume over the fire and brimstone accusations as much as Christians are bothered by atheists thinking that they are a bunch of clueless flock following the herd.

But do ever find yourself just annoyed at a human being just for them having a belief in God without knowing anything else about them?

Question for you...
I'm an egoist.
Suppose you lose your wallet.
I find it. It has your ID, so I could easily return it.
I believe that it is to my benefit to keep the wallet, and having found it, that I am entitled to it.
If you feel the same way, don't bother answering.
If you believe that I have an ethical obligation to return your wallet to you, please tell me why.
Don't just tell me that it is the "right" thing to do. Keep in mind that since I'm an egoist, I think that the "right" thing to do is to preserve my best interests.

Since the vast majority of people responded that they do indeed believe in Julius Caesar and many reported that they do indeed believe he was the emperor of Rome: Why evidence have you seen that leads you to believe that?
