No. God is not like a man, a human being. God is that than which none greater can be thought.
The new testament is a collection of writings and teachings centered about an itinerant Jewish teacher of roughly two thousand years ago. In it there is much of value, and much which is counterproductive to the "abundant life" which he declared was his purpose.
Study the new testament, and study the wisdom literature of other cultures. Use your good sense to practice awareness and loving kindness to others. (Look up "immanence".)
We are not the target of some big nobodaddy master puppeteer in the sky. There is no hell in the form of a lake of burning sulfur or whatever in store for who "insults" this so-called God of the common conception. We are not punished FOR our "sins" but BY them.
Try to be a good person, don't be fearful. It is true that to live is to suffer, to struggle. But life has much good. Enjoy it.

It is not Old or New but should more properly be called Hebrew and Greek testaments. They compliment each other showing different aspects of God. All were written for our instruction and beneficial for many things. (2Tim. 3:16)
We are not perfect due to the choice made by our first human parents. They had perfection until they through it away. So do like all the other generations have done---blame the parents!

Today there are so many Protestant churches because there is so much different interpretation of the Bible; there is so much different interpretation of the Bible because there is so much wrong interpretation of the Bible. And there is so much wrong interpretation because the system of interpreting it is radically wrong. You cannot have one fold and one shepherd, one faith and one baptism by letting every man and every woman distort and pervert the Scriptures to suit their own pet theories.
In our day, there is no whim, fad or fancy that some one does not claim to prove from the Bible. Almost any man or woman is conceited enough to set himself up as a competent interpreter of the word of God. "I think the Bible means this, therefore it does mean this," is their modest position. These men and women want it thoroughly understood that our forefathers in the faith were all fools that for the last nineteen hundred years, the Christian world was in inky darkness. With them, however, light has come into the world.

At first I was appalled by your question, however I realized that maybe you are just unaware. God is Perfect! He makes no mistakes. Sin came about through man (Adam and Eve), who'm God gave dominion over the Earth and free will ( the right to choose obedience or not). Man was created for God's purpose and to live forever. Sin did not exist in the world until Adam and Eve disobeyed God, which brought about a curse on man and death, plagues, and disease in the Earth. In the new testament God displays his deep love for us by offering his only son Jesus Christ as a sacrafice so that He may die in our place giving all the opportunity to live forever as he intended. If we accept (profess) Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior living also in faith and obedience we will live forever when He returns (His second coming). If you die before that, then you shall be resurrected. So God didn't make a mistake that he needed to fix. He cleverly repaired the damage that man had done to himself. Thank God! Now knowing that, I pray that you are one who has accepted him as your Lord and Savior. If not then it's not hard. Just pray wherever you are asking for the forgiveness of your sins, and professing that you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If you really mean that with all your heart, God will hear you. Then seek to obey him and find a church that will feed you with the knowledge of God.

God doesn't make mistakes - people do. It was mankind who broke - and rebroke - the covenent with God. The New Testament is a covenent that God has made available to all mankind - and once we agree to it with all our hearts, it cannot be broken no matter how much we mess up. Which is alot.

The NT is not God's fix. If you read Psalm 119, the entire thing you will see that the OT is "perfect" in such terms as well.

The new testament about Jesus is the whole point in the bible. Many predictions from the old testament were about Jesus.

your very question shows that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of The Bible.... As you clearly are not of The Chruch... and The Bible is only for those of The Church... and you are not bound by any thing written in it... why are you so concerned?.... don't worry about it..... unless you are having some doubts about whether or not it just might contain some Truth that might affect you..... in that case if you do have an honest question concerning who is bound by what is in The Bible and if it might actualy affect you... then feel free to email me...one honest question will receive one honest answer to the best of my ability.
