I have been actively trying to convert this Buddhist couple that I know for about a year now. I started off talking to them about the Gospel, and they didn't listen. Then I consulted "wayofthemaster.com" and tried their methods and it still hasn't worked.
When I was on "wayofthemaster.com" I saw a question about "Hellfire and Brimstone" preaching, and it said that so long as you are being true to the Gospel that is is okay to do "Hellfire and Brimstone" preaching.
I started telling this couple about the terror and wrath God will impose on them if they do not accept his son as their lord and saviour, but I think this just push them even farther away.
I don't understand how to convert these people. They are so peaceful and happy, and content with their lives and I am trying to warn them of the terrors of Hell once they die. They may think they are living a good life now, but God will show them whats what when they die.

Atheists make specific refutations of the bible. Will any Christian attempt to make some specific refutations of the contents of the book 'The God Delusion'?

If each religion believes that their religion is THE correct and THE only religion that is right in its' teachings...
Then why are there so many religions?
Why so many religious fights?
Christianity believes that their religion is the RIGHT religion for everyone to follow, but surely every other religion believes that also, or it wouldnt have any followers...

Im confused..
This isnt a question as such, just a view of mine.
Any other views welcome.

Being as I don't feel like asking anymore questions of Protestant Christians for a while since I am accused of having "distaste" for them. Seriously I asked a question about what about Catholicism and the Catholic Church bothers Protestants and I am accused of saying that they dislike Catholics when I never said that they dislike Catholics but that I realize that some dislike Catholicism and the Catholic Church. Anyway I am sick witht he flu and this is making me feel worse. And by the way I don't have a distaste for Protestants but I do have a distatse for nonsense. Anyway back to my original question what are some good sites to understand the Protestant Christian stance? Thank you all in advance.

Or remain do they not pay full attention to their religion's history and teachings. Is pointing out what doesn't make sense and the similarities your religion has with other religions allowed? Is doing that blasphemy cuz im mostly going to Hell according to Christianity. Criticism = Pathway to Hell?

If im going to Hell for not believing in blind faith, I'll be glad to go.

Did I cause these events?
When in the womb my mother nearly had a miscarriage because I could not cling on to the side of the womb because she was bleeding (perhaps i caused this by scratching) Then before birth I turned presenting my a*se to the world and when the doctor turned me back I had the cord wrapped twice around my neck and I was born asphyxiated by the cord.
Do you think babies in the womb have a forward memory of what their life is going to be and decide not to go through with it? Does God force us to go through with it?
I have always hated life and tried to commit suicide twice.

Alot of atheists claim that Christian parents raising their kids to be christians, and teaching them that God loves them and that Jesus came so that they may live, is brain washing and cruel and should be considered child abuse.

But my question is, following this logic, Atheists, shouldn't telling your kids there is no God be considered child abuse too? Especially since being an atheist almost entailes that you were an accident and that you have no purpose. (not always but there seems no way around that...)

So, because kids will hear about God, and they will be taught in school that GOD DOESNT EXIST - and evolution is A FACT. Then why can't christian parents fill in the other half and tell them about Jesus, EVERYONE gets evolution anti-god stuff at school and from other people.

I want answers and for you to say whether you are christian atheist or what.

It's kind of a debate - state your answers clearly

Why all the Catholic Bashing, how come there are not "christians" on these boards bashing religions. they just seem to come onto Yahoo to complain about catholics

I know people say where in the bible is this or that but thats irrelevant. Catholics use the bible and tradition (not just the bible) because thats what it says to do (in the bible)

Is it just that people feel threatened.

Do they need religion to keep them in line? If there were no religion the ignorists would run around and commit horrible crimes against humanity as did their religious forefathers?

Is the purpose of religion to keep us atheists safe from willful ignorants?

"Every Muslim shall be terrorist before Islam"
"If she doesn't wear a Hijab, we hit her"
Are these peaceful quotes?

The tile "Religion of peace" should go to Buddhism, the actual religion of peace, I'm a Christian and my religion certainly isn't peaceful, but at least it's not Islam

Why would an all-powerful God work only on a local (and recent) project like the Earth when there is a vast, 15-billion-year-old universe out there, with countless galaxies containing countless stars and the possibility of countless worlds?

Why didn't God let us know about quantum mechanics and natural selection and cosmology from the get-go?

And why would theologians insist on such a provincial version of the creation and God's imagination?

This is somewhat a zoology question but not entirely.
Someone stated that most of the animals we see today, were around at the same time as the dinosaurs (this guy is a hard core evolutionist) and in their highly devoloped end of the line present forms, and somehow they managed to escape extinction. Tell me, how do you explain this.
To me, and I am a creationist, this just screams, GOD MADE ALL THE ANIMALS FULLY DEVELOPED with no need to evolve further, at the same time, and that the dinosaurs then lived with people are while they are somewhat extinct and someone very rare they lived with people (much like the flinstones) and were on the arc. How does evolution explain this? He said this based on lots of evidence he has found and seen. (Book - Investigating the Unexplained)

There is a lot of arguments and thrashing on here from both sides, and by that I mean Religious Folk and Atheists alike.

The question is for what purpose?

Shouldn't we all be somewhere else telling someone important in our lives how much we care about them. This is why I started over an account and decided to start anew, the fighting and the constant bickering is so immature and barely above the thought process of a 7 year old.

This life is too short to spend it on here arguing, let some love in your world and let the people who matter most know what they mean to you, when they're gone you'll wish you had.

God Bless.

P.s. I am not here to offend anyone, or make someone's blood boil. This is the one time we pass through this life as we are, (for those who believe in reincarnation). Make it mean something.

I doubt it myself. Pictures of him may show him as toned down from what he was like before, but he still seems to have long hair. Maybe it was an archive photo. Also the story indicates he was a bit deceitful. Of course, this could be a lie. Also, he could be posing as one of Jehovah's Witnesses have expressed some interest in the faith and having obtained some literature. What is the real story?
