If each religion believes that their religion is THE correct and THE only religion that is right in its' teachings...
Then why are there so many religions?
Why so many religious fights?
Christianity believes that their religion is the RIGHT religion for everyone to follow, but surely every other religion believes that also, or it wouldnt have any followers...

Im confused..
This isnt a question as such, just a view of mine.
Any other views welcome.

I've been struggling with these questions too lately. I have a hard time with many religions' exclusivity. That goes against the basic tenets of most spirituality. I believe that most religions have the same basic beliefs and that eventually they will all meld into one beautiful, archetypal understanding and that will be the day when there is no war, strife, poverty and suffering.

The problem is that mankind likes to think that it is right over everything! So when other people have a different view, it becomes a challenge... instead of respecting the other person's point of view either they feel obliged to convert them, or antognize them!

Even Christians are guilty of this, even though The Bible clearly Teaches that it is The Work of The Holy Spirit ot convert people! We can offer our faith out to people for them to listen to it - but if they choose not to that is between them and God. We cannot force our beliefs on to other people!

There is a famous painting showing Jesus Standing outside the door to the human heart. There is no handle on the outside of the door, it can ONLY be opened by the person owning the heart - and it has to be opened from the inside! Jesus is A Gentleman (which is why I love Him SO much!), He NEVER Forces Himself onto anyone EVER!!!

So, if our LORD and Saviour won't do it, what right have WE?

I do believe with all my heart that if you removed 'religion' from the equation, the people who use it as an excuse for their violence would simply find something else to use! They are simply violent minded people who feed on bitterness, hatred and greed to further their own ends - BUT ARE TOO COWARDLY TO ADMIT IT!!! I don't care which 'faith' they follow, this is the truth!

There have been 'christian' devotees who have done terrible things in The Name of Jesus, but NONE of them have known Him because if they had they wouldn't have done those things! It has been going on for centuries and well meaning people have been sucked in by their lies and half-truths! Northern Ireland is an example in recent times!

Love in Jesus,

Margi

Only the Abrahamic religions take the attitude that only they are right - it's based on the Old Testament, where the laws about not killing only applies to other Jews, and genocide against other nations is praised and on Paul's peversion of Jesus' teachings - most others are content to live and let live.

It is natural for people to believe their own opinions to be correct, but in the case of many fundamentalists, there is the problem of concrete thinking that sees the world as right vs. wrong, black vs. white. When you divide the world into artificial patriarchal dichotomies, you leave room for nothing except direct conformity or opposition. They set themselves against anyone with a different idea. If they had developed the ability to think in abstract terms, where they can consider that they might be wrong without feeling threatened, they'd be able to let other people do their own thing.

Greetings friend,

I will not give you a view, but the facts which you can prove for yourself. Be honest with yourself and if something is unquestionably true, then accept it. Also in seeking the truth, ask God's guidance.

These other faiths abound because they were created by fallen angels and men ( Galatians1:8-9). This is Satan's attempt to offset the Kingdom of God, but he will fail

Christianity can withstand the most rigorous investigation unlike most others religions. As a matter of fact, unlike other faiths, Christianity invites the person to prove its vericity. Scriptual verses for this are: 1 John 4:1 which says test the spirits, because there are many false prophets (or teachers) that are gone out into the world. Also in 1 Thessalonians 5: 19-21, it states that you believe not every prophecy but prove that which is true.

Islam does not invite this kind of scrutiny. Other religions tell you virtually save yourselves through works, like Islam. But Christianity realistically tells you what you cannot do and invites you to accept salvation through Jesus Christ. Notice, in all the other faiths, salvation is a matter of self-effort, but Jesus tells you it is because of His finished work on the cross and His resurrection. Praise the Lord!

Christianity is the only faith in which the believer can wage spiritual warfare. He has dominion over evil spirits. In other faiths, the believers unwittingly cooperate with them.

Christianity is the only faith in which its founder descended into hell with complete power over the Devil and his minions and released those in hades to descend into heaven. The founders of other world religions and cults and in there, unless they repented.

Christianity preaches resurrection; the other religions preach reincarnation.

Christianity has has great body of prophecy pointing to Christ before he was born; all of which came to pass. If they all came to pass with unerring accuracy, then you know that the rapture and the War of Armageggon will come to pass as well.

Christianity is the only faith that prepares you to resist the antichrist or the Beast. The other world religions are preparing to meet him with outstretched hands. Click on the link below . This is why Christianity is unique and I use the world "superior" to all other faiths. It speaks the truth. The truth is superior to a lie.

Finally, if you study biblical prophecy, you wil find that it is very relevant and 100 percent infallible. If you study the prophecies of other religions you will find contradictions, errors and demonic deceptions abounding. I have found that the factual basis for Christianity is stronger than any other faith.

If there is no factual basis for your believe system, then you believe foolishness and fairy tales. Case in point Hitler and Mao Tse-tung who massacred millions. And as a man thinketh or believeth, so is he. So be careful what you believe, because your belief system determines your behaviour.

Christians believe Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world - Christianity isn't a religion - we believe Jesus is the Messiah. This is why we follow Him and His teachings. We have a relationship with our Saviour when The Spirit of God comes to live in us - we then know God's will for us and our walk becomes very personal.
Hope this makes some sense to you.

I don`t see why any religion is THE correct one to follow, each to their own. The religious fights are merely generated by leaders with there own agenda who are able to convince a bunch of idiots to follow them.Bin Laden was just a rich kid who got bullied at school. I wouldn`t care if a person of any denomination moved in next to me ( English C.o E.)

I can understand your confusion. The Bible is my authority on the one true God, it claims to be inspired and I believe it to be so. The more I have read it, as a whole not just selected bits, the more impressive it is.
The writings of Moses, David and the prophets were what Jesus told people that they should have read. The writings of the Bible predate Muslim teachings and most others.
God condemned all the evil that men do in His name. People make all sorts of claims that are never found in scripture but come from human traditions.
Jesus himself preached that people should love their enemies, do good to them who despitefully use them and to pray for those who persecute them. This is totally against the way human beings react but it works if you make it a matter of prayer. But sadly, people harbour grudges against each other, both friends, families and internationally. Forgiving people is also what Jesus taught. Just look at the Lord's prayer.
So it is not the word of God itself which is at fault but the failure of people to obey His simple commandments.

Jews, and Buddhists, neither say they are the right religion, or way to look but buddhists emphasise personal examination of the teachings to fing what truth is not what someone else says is truth,

Ancient Egyptians felt that their religion was the true one. It survived for thousands of years. Did those followers waste their lives? Did they go to Hell because God didn't take the time to teach them to read Hebrew so they could read the Torah?
