exchange gifts during that evening or do you leave that for Christmas day (if you celebrate both)?

This will be our first Yule celebration and since we have young children as well I was wondering if that is something pretty common to do or not.

I like the idea of giving a gift to my young boys, like a homemade snowflake ornament or something along those lines.
I havent seen anything yet to say if some do it this way or not so I thought Id ask and get some ideas and opinions.

TIA!!!!!

P.S. Please refrain from bashing...to each his own.

God puts us here for a set amount of time, say between 1 sec and 120 yrs depending on how lucky you are (or unlucky depending on your point of view).

This amount of time compared to the promised eternal life is insignificant. Does this mean our time here is insignificant. Is life nothing more than a short interview to get into heaven?

Why is that God decides the outcome of this interview in seconds for one person and years for another?

Did he decide the fate of infants based on their C.V or is he just all knowing and therefor knew that they were worthy of Heaven/Hell?

If he is all knowing then why bother with life at all, why not just ship us off to our predetermined destination?

Also, if he sent everyone to heaven straight away while their souls are still without sin, then surely being brought up in heaven without all the worldly evils would ensure their purity.

So, why does God bother with this life?

i have a friend who i really want to be godfather as he's helped me so much with my daughter ever since she was born and is pretty much her father!! he's not been christened himself though. i've asked at the church if this would be a problem and apparently its against the law. but my godmother wasnt christened, a friend of mine is a godfather and hasnt been christened so does anyone know where i can find something that states its NOT illegal to have a unchristened person as godparent? or indeed if it actually is!?!

I sure am. I know it's bs, but wouldn't it be great?! There will be no more Christians on earth! Think of everything we can get accomplished. I think the rapture is a little misunderstood. I think it will be the beginning of a Utopian society. Although, the R & S section would get kind of boring....

I came across this cartoon today and it made me think.

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l11/auroradawn52/photos/howprayerworksccy6.gif

I used to be a Christian and knew how to pray, never prayed for anything for myself, worded it perfectly and prayed in total earnest, but never once got a prayer answered. I never knew anyone that got a real prayer answered.

My question is, why would God want us to pray to him if he never intends to answer any prayers? Why are answered prayers given to just a few when so many of them are genuinely selfless and asking for good things?

Please don't say that sometimes God's answer is "No". It's always "No".

What to do if you're struggling with celibacy, desire to marry, but unable to find a marriage partner? It is written it is better to marry than to burn with passion, however, the Bible never gives us an out if we can't marry. What are you to do then?
