Many songs and limited space is one reason. The other may be that the vision of heaven in the song may not fit our understanding. "When we've been there 10,000 years, we've no less time to sing His praise." I don't have a problem with giving praise forever, but this implies a place where we never change and grow. It is a place to be idle. When Afterglow did a version they used the words "when man and angel bend the knee.."

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/sbOce
Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

There are a lot of other good songs to be put in there. As far as I know there is no commandment, "Thou shalt sing Amazing Grace." So I think we are covered. The song I wish was still in the LDS hymn book is Come Though Fount.

Um....why does it matter either way?
Mormons believe in Grace. Maybe whoever compiled the hymn book didn't like it.

Mormons have taste?
Sorry but that song is way overrated and way overused.
I think funeral time = Amazing Grace Time.
