But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Mark 13:17

1. Why is it the Catholics think it's just dandy to have sacred images (idols) of Mary or Jesus in their churches, when it was clearly commanded in Lev 26:1 that you shall not?

Exodus 20: 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

2. Why is it that in many Catholic churches you cannot find this commandment in their 10 commandments?

3. Why is it than in the bible, all the body of Christ are referred to as saints and the Catholic church seems to think sainthood is something only the heirarchy of their church can appoint?

I am a British sikh, I have been reading about religion etc in the newspapers of England(my country!)` and it says 75%+ of muslims put their religion in front of their nationality.

My dad was born in India and is a Sikh and is now a British citizent living hapily in England although still speaking the native language punjabi at home he tries and speaks english outdoors, although speaking little English he can still converse not into much depth.

My mum on the other hand is a British born and bred sikh who is slightly dopey(*god forgive me* lol!) and who can speak fluent english because she is english thinks that if there was a war against India she would be on India's side. I beg to differ, she always says I am stupid and a traitor but to whom, I am british so why should I back another country who's which language I can minimally speak?

My Indian-born dad thinks that it is right to fight for England, and he would fight for England if there was a war.

What do you think?

Someone once told me that some communion wine is blessed before it is shipped. So that you could take communion even if a priest is not around. Is that correct?

And if it is correct, if I buy some of this pre-blessed wine, and use it for sangria at a party, would all the party goers who drink it have taken Communion? Would their holy alcohol containing blood be poisonous to vampires?

Serious answers only please.

We'd make a mess of it!

Today at Mass, the readings were Wisdom 11:22-12:2
Psalm 145:1-2, 8-9, 10-11, 13, 14
2 Thessalonians 1:11-2:2
Luke 19:1-10

Today's Gospel shows what poor judges we would make. The crowds had been witnessing Jesus' miracles with growing enthusiasm, and then the cheers turn into jeers. Why?

A few in the crowd noticed this little man standing on his tip toes, trying to get a glimpse of Jesus. Most recognized him as the hated chief tax collector of the area, a very rich man named Zacchaeus. A few avoided contact as he suddenly dropped his dignity and ran to climb a nearby sycamore tree. He wanted a better view!

As Jesus passed underneath, He glanced up and spotted the man. Jesus' glance penetrated into the heart of Zacchaeus, and contritely he stared back at Jesus.

I first want to mention I am of three races, and I am proud of that! I have never known God to consider it a sin for people to date outside their race/heritage. I was born to many righteous relatives. But someone on here claimed that it's mentioned in the Bible we are not to mix seed, we should stay with "our own kind"! I don't buy it for a second! If that were true, I would need solid evidence, like what and where is the scripture? The God I know and believe does not condemn interracial relationships. Who agree with me here?
I been reading the Bible, and I haven't seen any mention of it being a sin.

Both verses from the NIV, Paul quotes Psalms trying to show how King David tells us God provided His son to atone for sin.

Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrafice and sin offerings you did not desire, but a body you have prepared for me....."

Psalms 40:7 Sacrafice and offerings you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced..."

Why did Paul change the verse to fit his ideology? Why did he molest the word of God??

According to the Bible, or at least according to the Christians I have encountered and their interpretation, you have to accept Jesus as your saviour to get to heaven. So what of those who never have the chance to? What of those who never heard of Christianity? Or the newborns who die before having either knowledge or exposure?
Does God allow the ignorant into heaven, if their ignorance is through no fault of their own? Or is it strictly affirmed Christians only?

This may well be a drinking question, but I was just curious as to how this problem is dealt with by Christians and Him on high.

It seems like when most Christians see the word "satan" then they automatically think, "OMG! They're gonna rape our children and slaughter pigs for their ritual sacrifice! RUN!"

Are there any Christians that use their own advice ("You respect my religion, I'll respect yours") and educate themselves about other religions?

If you are a Christian and you trust in God to not give you anything you can't handle, why would you use contraceptive to prevent pregnancy in a marriage relationship? God brings people together in marriage to bring children into the world. I recommend reading this article for perspective. I don't expect you to necessarily agree with it but if you want to see the other side of the coin read this...

666 or 616. Who in their right mind, being the beast, would obviously display their number for all to see? Is it one of those things that we won't understand until after the fact?

Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
for the Devil sends the beast with wrath
because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
reckon the number of the beast
for it is a human number
its number six hundred and sixty six.

I left alone my mind was blank
I needed time to think to get the memories from my mind

What did I see? Can I believe? That what I saw
that night was real and not just fantasy

Just what I saw in my old dreams were they
reflections of my warped mind staring back at me?

'Cause in my dreams it's always there the evil face that twists my mind
and brings me to despair

I guess I'm just wondering if you HAVE to convert everyone to Christianity? I suppose that people will just naturally ask why you are so peaceful etc. and then you can tell them why, right? Let people come to you instead of preaching from a pulpit type thing?

I feel that I am ready to start accepting God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit into my life, and I want to become a Christian.

I'm not sure what I want to do, I think Catholicism is the best choice for me because my mother is a Catholic, but she always left the decision on what I wanted to be up to me. I don't know what I want to be though, Catholic or Protestant.

Christians, do you allow non-believers to take Communion? Let's say an atheist knows when Communion is at the local Orthodox or Catholic Church. He slips in the back a few minutes before hand. Then goes in line and gets his free bread and wine. He does this every time Communion is offered at that church.

Would this be allowed in your Church?

Let me say that we have a usual, common-sense way of telling the truth about things and that is looking at available evidence (witness statements and physical evidence).

Having said that, allow me to play the same game with the person of Abraham Lincoln. For this exercise, I deny that he ever existed, was president or freed the slave.
I state that all of your evidence is forged, falsified, purgured or mistakenly understood.

I realize that this is surely a bit extreme, but the Lincoln Hoax was, indeed, pulled off in a more technologically advanced world and as such, is more easily believed than the Christ hoax. After all there were no cameras or printing presses available, so the Christ-hoax conspiracy used more people in lieu of technology.
This hoax is old and all witnesses are dead. So their statements cannot be challenged and are therefore invalid!
I guess that sums up the total of the 'Christ-hoax' arguements
Prove that Lincoln existed and did what history records.

Religiously, i had a bad childhood. the only source i got about religion was my intolerant republican father (not bashing repubs, just hear me out).when i was a teen i seriously wanted change. i got into wicca and loved all the imagery and the tolerance. my parents, yelled at me and burned my books and shatterd my self esteem and faith. my parents think im an awful kid now.they think im in a gang and do drugs or w.e, just because i worshiped something THEY didnt worship. well, recently, ive been feeling a pull towards christianity now that im older. and now i worship Yahweh. i still feel right with the nature approach to wicca tho. like, i worship Yahweh, i believe in no goddess. just the trinity (Yahweh). i belive jesus died for our sins, but i think jesus was just a form of YHVH. i still use Herbs and candles in prayer, but just to add a nature feel. i wear a pentacle, but to me, it symbolizes my stuggle, and it represents Yahweh, and how everything is connected.

I don't why but it seems that the people who describe themselves as Atheist on here seem to be really angry. The premise of most of their questions seems intended to hurt people's feelings and they it's surprising how much they play with the truth to try to make a point. It's amusing, they spend a lot of time trying to poke holes in the bible but it seems like most of their information comes from Wikipedia and fringe websites...and much of it is wrong!! I guess I've moved from a question to more of a statment now....
