The Scriptures themselves call us to honor other Christians, both the living and departed. In Acts 28:10, Saint Luke writes, "They also honorus in many ways." The biblical injuction concerning Mary, "All generations will call me blessed" (Luke 1:48), is an example of how we are to honor the saints for all time(see also Heb. 11:4-40). We are to honor all believers and true authorities, not just departed ones. This why Saint Paul exhorts us to honor one another(1 Tim. 5:17), and why Saint Peter tells husbands to honor their wives (1 Pet. 3:7). We are called to obay and honor our civil authorities (Rom. 13:1-7). In Orthodox worship, we see pictures or icons of the believers of history all around us. This is, in part, how we honor our forerunners in the Faith. In prase and worship of God. We come to join "an innumerable company of angels," and "the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven," and "the spirits of just men made perfect."

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" (Galatians 1:6-9)

Claim CB350, or the claim that sex cannot have evolved is something that creationists use a lot against evolution. Lets see what talk origins says against this claim:

It starts by saying:
"The variety of life cycles is very great. It is not simply a matter of being sexual or asexual. There are many intermediate stages. A gradual origin, with each step favored by natural selection, is possible (Kondrashov 1997)."

This appeal to authority sites Alexey Kondrashov. If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_sex and search for his name, you will find the "deterministic mutation hypothesis" which he created. In the last paragraph you see that "there has been much criticism of

Kondrashov's theory, since it relies on two key restrictive conditions." In other words, Kandrashov should not be considered an expert as talk origins has considered him by citing his work.

Talk origins continues:
"The earliest steps involve single-celled organisms exchanging genetic information; they need not be distinct sexes. Males and females most emphatically would not evolve independently."

In an attempt to debunk the proposed argument, they attempt to attack one of the weaker arguments. In other words, instead of focusing on the evolution of sex, they focus on the fact that there is no need for males and females to evolve independently. So what? That doesn't support their argument.

Talk origins finishes:
"Sex, by definition, depends on both male and female acting together. As sex evolved, there would have been some incompatibilities causing sterility (just as there are today), but these would affect individuals, not whole populations, and the genes that cause such incompatibility

would rapidly be selected against."

This conclusion deviates from the argument, because ultimately it didn't answer how sexual organs were slowly created, and how the switching between asexual and sexual reproduction happened. In other words, it never got around to explaining what the intermediate stages actually were.

After watching way too many Ghost Hunters episodes, I have become nearly convinced that they exist. I'm a skeptic, but some of the evidence they present on the show is pretty convincing, especially their live show on Halloween. The conundrum is, that admitting that ghosts exists one must also admit that there is an afterlife. That of course opens up all the other problems discussed here.

So, what do you think about ghosts or the Ghost Hunters television show?

I just got a violation notice for my answer to a question.

The answer I gave was "cool."
Someone asked how 10,000,000,000 Christians could be wrong for believing in God.

How is my answer a violation of anything?

All I did was list a few of the MANY parrallells between jesus and Horus the Egyptian God of the Sun and *pow* my answer is deleted.
It did'nt violate the TOS (in fact Yahoo is going to re-enstate my points and remove the violation asap) so I must conclude that pointing out the truth about their myths and legends must be the greatest sin one can commit.
Am I right or not?

In Orthodox Christianity, icons are never worshippord, but they are honored or venerated. The Second Commandment says, "You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything the is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"(Ex. 20:4,5). The warning her is (1) that we are not to image things which are limited to heaven and therefor unseen, and (2) we never bow down to or worship created, earthly things such as the golden calf. Does this condemn all imagery in worship? The Bible speeks for itself, and the answer is no. Just five chapters after the giving of the Ten Commandments,God, as recorded in Exodus 25, gives His divine blueprint, if you will, for the tabernacle. Specifically in verses 19 and 20, he commands images of cherubim to be placed above the mercy seat. Also, god promises to meet and speak with us through this imagery! Ex. 25:22 It is not true imagery which is condemned in Scripture, but false imagery.
