I keep trying to find that Tori Amos t-shirt that says "Satin Worship."
There are Satan worshipers and Satan worshipers. Only a marginal few actually worship "Satan" as the Christian god of evil. The "Church of Satan" is comprised of atheist materialists. Others worship "Satan" as a type of pagan god like Pan.
By the way - not a fan of satin sheets OR boxers. Not only do they feel too slippery to me, but they stain easily...lol.

Satanist do not worship Satan. They call themselves this because it is symbolic. They represent and encourage anything that they consider to be 'against the teachings of the church'. Christianity is very much focused on the spiritual and the afterlife and preparing to go there (to die, basically). Satanist, however, don't particularly believe in an afterlife and so it's all about physical gratification in all the ways that Christianity says is sinful. Gluttony, avarice, greed, adultery, etc. They very much also believe that their respect and kindness needs to be earned, and that stupidity and ignorance are the worst 'sins' there are.
Jonjon made a good point below.... There are people who refer to themselves as Satanist who are (as he described) materialistic atheists, and there are the select few (those who, I suspect are rebellious teens) who do actually 'worship Satan', and there are also Luciferians. They worship what some might call Satan or some aspect thereof. Try googling for 'Luciferian' and see what you get!

I'm a pagan,
but do not worship at the altar of Satan
nor at the altar of the one they call Jesus.
Neither one of these "creep" me out.
It is just that I do not follow that particular path.
I will assume that you had some sort
of Christian upbringing, otherwise,
you might be able to see this as
just another of the many beliefs
that are out there.
Before you start judging the Satanists,
maybe you should "Google" Satanism
and see exactly what they believe.
Look at this with an open mind, if you can.
And whenever you feel that something
is "creeping you out",
you might want to do some research
on the subject before you jump up
on that soapbox and proceed to judge others.
This message has been brought to you
by the freedom of religion and

thank you ever so much.

There are a few on here, but most Satanists don't worship Satan.
Here- check this out. It might hold some answers for you. I know it might bother you to read it, but if you do- you may end up with at least a better idea of what it is, and who these people are that follow these guidelines. Its really not that bad of a position to hold- all the Satanists I've met (not many, mind you) were actually really intelligent and well educated... and a lot of fun at that.

I think they are just sort of religious anarchists, who call themselves that because they can't imagine anything that would piss off christians more!
I don't think they've watched Rosemary's Baby 150 times or anything like that. Actually "satanism" is probably mostly just a paranoid invention of fundamental christians who try to imagine all these evil people are plotting against them to make themselves feel important.
