GCSE RE question on Jesus' authority

2007-10-31 08:57:57 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

This is an example of the kind of probability it would take for some simple form of Evolution to occur.

A complex form of Evolution like The Human Eye would be more like 100,000 monkeys trying to type War & Peace.

How mathematically probable/possible is it. There comes a point when probability is absurd and is in essence impossible. Just like the Evolution of our entire planet. It is an absurd obsolete theory.

Back when I was a Christian (I'm now an atheist), why didn't Jesus get me to stay pious? Furthermore, if God knew I would become an atheist, why didn't he take any measure to stop me? Doesn't he care if I'm saved? I prayed and prayed when I was little and my prayers were never answered.

Of course, I'm now an atheist for secular and scientific reasons, but I'm asking you from a former Christian viewpoint and I want to know your opinions on this.

Fundamentalist Christians, if you can't avoid logic fallacies in your arguments why should I trust your theology?

For example, I am constantly hearing fundamentalist Christians attack made-up strawman versions of the theory of evolution. When I read fallacious arguments like that I know that they did not bother to research evolution or think their argument through. Why should I expect them to have researched their theology or thought about their religion any more thoroughly?

If my lawyer used such fallacious reason I'd fire him on the spot and demand a refund.

Tonight is halloween and as Christians we need to be aware that there are going to be children and animals sacrificed to satan. I am going to be interceding for those so that lives can be saved. We as followers of Christ have the authority, through Him, to see individuals saved from death, torture and satan's plan of destruction. Jesus gave us the authority over satan and his demons and their works to destroy. Christians, will you please take the time to pray for these adults, children and animals? Thank you for your prayers of intercession, God Bless You all.

For those of you that don't know, she's a regular fixture on the Montel Williams show and is considered a "renowned" physic.

People ask her about their dead loved ones, and she describes them and says they come and visit often, right? But she also says that we all have many lives here and often tells people who they were in other lives... So here's the questions....

How can everyone who asks about their loved ones, have their "dead loved ones" around them every time they ask her, if we all have so many lives?

Is it just coincidence that the dead loved ones of every person who asks about them aren't currently in "another life"?

If we live so many lives, are we only ever surrounded by the loved ones we know from this life or from all our lives?

Christians (and some other Believers) claim that God has a special plan for people and that all creation was centered around humans as God's crowning achievement.

Atheists (most, anyway) see humans as simply a natural consequence of the universe, no more special than underarm bacteria, spruce trees, lava flows, or Diet Pepsi. (We are, however, special to ourselves and to other humans.)

Do these differences in underlying assumptions make it difficult to have a conversation about life, death, and purpose? How could bridging this gap be achieved?

People say that 99% biologists are deceiving the public when they say there is tons f evidence for evolution. The same people say that the big bang proves God exists. Why don't cosmologists just say the big bang didn't happen and the universe always existed?

Anyone who pays close attention to the Old Testament will see that God is rather rough around the edges - rudely barking rebukes and committing deplorable social faux pas, such as indelicately telling people to kill their children without so much as a perfunctory "please." Clearly, the God of the Old Testament is no one a civil person would have in his home. Jesus, on the other hand, while hardly poised, is so thoroughly pleasant (except to that dreadful mother of His, who was always pestering Him in public for more wine), that one can easily overlook his lack of polish. Every time I find myself wanting to correct Him on some inartfully phrased request or awkward social contretemps, I remind myself "Well, he is rather well behaved for a carpenter."

When asked about the Mathematical Miracles they must believe in in order to accept Evolution, they say it is observable and not faith.

Yet when corned with their own faith in things that they cannot see or prove, they say, "You do not understand what faith is".

If you believe in nothing, then who are you to lecture a believer about faith?

Secondly, you do have faith, but yours is insane. It is not mathematically possible.
