The world is different now and the want and need for power and revenge on terrorists seems to be taking over.

Please no rants. I'm just as angry about terrorists as anybody.

With regard to his faith, Martin Luther stated, even though it put his life in danger "to go against ones conscience is neither right nor safe, here I stand, I can do no other, God help me"

If one can not stand by their religion (faith) it is not much of a religion is it?

It is not REASONABLE to stand by anything that is dogmatic and uses the supernatural as a basis for knowledge. Reasonable Religiousity is an oxymoron.

However I don't think religious people are morally bad or stupid. They just do what their culture has taught them, like 90% of the people on the planet.

I do not want to revoke their freedom to excersize their faith... however I feel a dogmatic approach to knowledge prevents us from progressing in many areas. I believe open inquiry is essential to finding the real solution to any problem or situation.

It is very reasonable to stand by your religion - which ever it is. However it is not reasonable to inflict it on others what ever it is. I will stand by any Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist or which ever as long as they do not ask or tell me to believe their myths and superstitions.

Oh and revenge is always fruitless. "An eye for an eye and soon the whole world is blind" - here I do go with Christ = Turn the other cheek (or do you think that he needed to be put right on a few things?)

I think it's very reasonable to stand by Christianity and I understand how you feel as far as getting revenge on those who plot evil and do evil, but it's not up to us to get back at those who delight in wrong doings.

His word states that in Romans 12:19 - "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord"

I didn't stand by Christianity. I had too many problems, questions, and saw too many contradictions, so I didn't see the need.

I have been a traditional witch for 13 years. I'll stand by that, though.

Fighting fire with fire would only worsen things with the terrorists. In the end God will win. In the meantime we just need to be obedient to Him.

I'll only stand by my religion if some one tried to force me to do against it!
It's not only standing by the religion itself, it's standing by my freedom. Freedom to choose my beliefs & to practice what ever I want with respect to others freedom.
