Yu say you shouldnt be or be like brain washed by other peoples beliefs. Well this is what christians and other religions say?

But dont all religions convince others, say with muslims parents literally shove it down their throats.

I dont think its fair, if the parents choose to believe then yes that is fine. But why should they expect their children to? Shouldnt they be given the rights to make their own decisions.

My family is catholic yet im an atheist !

My mum and dad gave me the choose.

Shouldnt everyone else have that right to??

I am a British Muslim (I was born here but my parents are migrants) and I was just wondering what people thought about Muslims and if they thought we were all terrorists.

In case you were wondering, I think that terrorism is wrong and terrorists are just stupid. I also think that people should stop stereotyping Muslims but I doubt that will happen.

My husband and I have been members of our church for 15 years. Recently my 13 year old daughter began acting strange, isolating, shunning her friends, and not wanting to go to church with us. We found out that the youth minister had seduced her and forced her to engage in sexual acts that she didn't understand. We called the police and they arrested the youth minister who also happens to be the pastor's oldest son, but he was released on bail. My husband went crazy when he was released and caught the man and beat him half to death. Now my husbands in jail for attempted murder, my daughter is in a psychiatric hospital, and the bank is ready to forclose on our home because we have no money due to all the medical and legal cost, my husbands not working, and now the pastor has turned other members of the church against us saying we are lying and making up stories about his son.
How can God allow this to happen? How can this be part of his plan?
I have lost my faith. There is no god.

I was in a philosophy class, and as the professor was discussing various religious beliefs, i could see a few students were getting noticeably upset...specifically discussing the "problem of evil" in religion....finally there was an outburst....

"it was the devil's fault" one student yelled out.
"no it's because of free will" another cried.
"you can't blame god for evil" another said.

It was as if they couldn't understand the arguments at all, the professor wasn't claiming any argument to be correct, he was just explaining all angles of the argument, and these students couldn't even wrap their head around the argument to understand what it was saying...Their responses were the same, blindly regurgitating what they had been taught rather than thinking about the argument, and finding problems: either with it's premises, or problems with how the premises lead to the conclusions.

Where as I, with no religious bias, could clearly see both sides of the argument, and understand it.

Isn't it just too bad that public school teachers are forced to take a vow of celibacy that turns them into child molestors? Look at this article and see the shocking statistics!

We need to change the rules and let teachers marry. Then they won't abuse children anymore.

They are the caregivers to the future generation, and yet they refuse to enter the core covenant of marriage?

Honestly, they may as well just slap Jesus in the face.

Many christians have answered previous questions saying they still believe this story so this is aimed at them.
1)If the ark was made of wood how did it not collapse under it's own weight?
2)Did Noah also gather 2 of every fish and saltwater dwelling animal that couldn't survive the desalinization?
3)How did all the plants survive underwater or did Noah also take these?

If God already knows what that person will become from the very beginning, then do you think that he created that person to do his/her purpose on earth and be condemned in the after life?..

I have 2 kids. boy is 3, & girl is 9. Little man, we already keep "fairly entertained" by taking his hotwheels cars, a couple bible children's books for him to look at, a bag o' cheerios, and he gets to "draw" on his sister's notebook too. My daughter, brings a notebook that she constantly writes "I'm so bored" on, wont actually bother READING the bible stories book, and just overly acts bored, and doesnt even remotely pay attention. How can I at least get some of her interest into paying attention when we attend meetings....or look in the bible book for kids book.......... what do you do to entertain your kids when u are in church.
FYI: Relgiion is kinda a new thing for us....... so they werent raised in religion before this, and it's hard for them

As far as I'm concerned I believe it has been, there is so much proof. I mean isn't genetics enough to prove this? I don't know but it seems to me like you would have to be foolish to not believe this theory.. but I guess people used to believe the earth was Flat. Okay well I know how scientific theorys are extremely hard to prove, but I still don't get why even though its only a theory which has much proof why a lot of people don't believe its true.

Look at these..

My question requires a little set-up, so bear with me:

2000 yrs ago, they were saying "My God helped me slaughter the women and children of my enemies because I'm so righteous!"

1000 yrs ago, they said " Oops, that wasn't right. That genocide thing was wrong. They were ignorant, but in this modern age, I have all the answers. My God helped me get all these slaves because I'm so righteous!"

And 500 yrs ago they said "My God said to punish Copernicus for daring to say the Earth is not the center of the universe!"

Now they're saying "Oops. That terracentric thing and the slaves -- that was wrong. They were ignorant, but in this modern age, I have all the answers. God said I could condemn gay people and judge anybody who doesn't think like me and pass laws to teach my religion in public schools, because I'm so righteous...."

Anybody else see a sort of motif running through here?

All these Christians right now are trying to force stores like Wal-Mart to say Merry Christman rather than Happy Holidays. I am perfectly fine with calling Dec 25 what ever you want. However, if you guys get to say Merry Christmas to non-Christians, then Jews should be allowed to say happy hanukkah to Christians without them getting offended. And Muslims should be allowed to say whatever the celebrate without Christians and jews getting offended. And atheists should be allowed to say happy holidays without anyone getting offended.
