in math class, do christians get upset when discussing Pythagorean Theory?
"you cannot prove that the square of the hypotenuse of EVERY right triangle is equal to the square of the other 2 sides....it's just a theory"

so jwb, you're saying that whatever theory you hear first, whether scientific or not, is the one you will believe, automatically?

They only argue a theory if it doesn't go along with the Buy-bull or can't be twisted to accommodate it.
For example, some have worked it out so they can believe in evolution and intelligent design. Others still deny it, though. I guess it depends on how argumentative the person is.

It is also a theory that others are not trying to say is fact with little to no proof. Anyone can sit down with the Pythagorean Theory and about 100 triangles with different measurements and see that it applies and is factual. It is called a theory because the number of possible combinations of measurements for triangles is endless and, therefor, it cannot be proven for all combinations. When you get to the theory of evolution, however, many try to pass it off as fact when it is not. I can't sit down and apply the theory of evolution and see that it works. I can't break the law of biogenisis and create life from non-life and see that the theory of evolution is possible. Atheists want hard facts and proof of God's existence, but then question why Christians want hard facts and proof of the theory of evolution. The double standard is glaring!
EDIT: I said that the THEORY of EVOLUTION has not been proven.. Evolution happens (microevolution) but it has never happened or been proven on the grand scale that the theory of evolution claims. And save your insults. I have read plenty of books both in support of the theory of evolution and arguing against it.

"you cannot prove that the square of the hypotenuse of EVERY right triangle is equal to the square of the other 2 sides....it's just a theory" - Actually, yes I can. In fact, if it had not been proven for every case, it would be called the Pythagorean Conjecture.

If a plausible alternative comes up then I will consider not relying on that theory, but until there is an alternative theory, I will choose to believe the one that I have been taught. I heard of and believed in creation long before I heard of the Big Bang theory, and to me, the creation theory still makes as much since as the alternative theory so I still believe the theory that I believed to begin with.

I have argued this. Stating that there is no God, or anything like a god in the entire universe (atheism) is a theory based on lack of evidence, not on proof. The idea of math not even being constant is shown in the much-hated idea of non-euclidean geometry and the fanciful quantum physics.

I do. There is no way to be sure. In 1,000 years, we will have even a greater understanding of higher math and might come to realize that our universe is not linear and not every right triangle behaves in the same way, or some such crap.
Science is simply a modern Tower of Babel.

Because nobody uses Pythagorus to try to belittle and berate our faith, or to label us with every tag of stupidity that can cross the human imagination.
