I was raised in a Catholic family. Attending church was mandatory and we relied on the Priest to deliver the message to us. I was never taught to study or even pick up a bible and read the message myself. It finally occured to me that the only things I knew about Jeasus was what I was taught in many years of catechism classes, which wasn't much. I was taught the Catholic doctrine, I was taught to pray to Saints, I was taught how to say the rosary. I was never taught how to study the bible. I'm a educated and intelligent grown woman but every time I pick up the Bible, I'm lost. I get frustrated and put it down for months, only to pick it up again and again with no idea how to understand what I'm reading. Please note, I am not putting down the Catholic Church; my entire family is Catholic. I just need more than what I'm getting from the church at this point in my life. I know this may sound sad, but can anyone give me guidance.

to notice your presence and needs among 10,000 people or maybe among 10,000,000? Does He really know you by your name?

Proverbs 31:8-9

8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
ensure justice for those being crushed.
9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice.

Keep in mind the person who is an oppressor, the person who is taking justice from the poor and the widows, may not simply be wiling to give up his power

So are we to give up if it leades to conflict???

Or are we to obey the command of God even if it means that we Gather our forces for War???

God wants us to obey, he never said its ok to disobey him, if it keeps you away from battle

I asked this before, but didn't get an answer from anyone who believes this. ???
If we are saved by works, what is considered works? What do we have to do? When do we know if we've done enough to be saved?

How can anyone really be 100% sure that there is or isn’t a God, or an afterlife, or any of that?
Such huge arguments going on, none of them really rational or logical, over something that can’t possibly be proven. I know that scientifically, the complete lack of any evidence does point more towards there not being anything beyond this life, but still there is nothing that could possibly make either side guaranteed 100% correct. Why can’t either side just accept that other people believe something different? Why can’t they just let each other be on the subject?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. - Matthew 25:40 KJV.

One of the major problems I have had with Christianity is its view of women. God is portrayed as male, Jesus is a man and he had twelve male apostles. A woman (Eve) is blamed for the fall. And here are some scriptures for you:

1 Corinthians 11:3
3 Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

1 Corinthians 11:7 – 9
“7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. “

1 Corinthians 14:34 – 35
34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

I know that lots of people say, "because theres no evidence," but what about creation? i think Gods way is a lot more convincing than "the big bang theory." and then theres that excuse, "because i want to live life my own way." Well, if theres an surgery needed to be done on a best friend, your not going to say to the surgeon, "i want to do the surgery, its my best friend!" And what other explanation can they give us about death? I mean, id rather not take a chance. other than that, why don't people believe in God?

USA should be #1!!!! So I don't like this! How should we go about depriving people people of evolution teachings? How can we ensure that Intelligent Design is taught solely in every American science class?

By "we" I mean Christians and atheists alike.

Say what you will, Christians, about your religion - say, for example, that it's the only way to salvation, and that salvation is important because we're all damned by default per Christian theology. I can't argue with that, so you win: Christianity is the only way to Christian salvation.

But don't pretend it's reasonable! In fact, the whole point of it is that it's NOT reasonable. If you could explain a miracle, it wouldn't be a miracle, would it? As the early Church patriarch Tertullian famously said of the Resurrection, "I believe it because it is absurd." He was stressing the primacy of faith over reason.

And "faith" is "the evidence of things unseen," as Paul said, or "belief in what ain't true," as Mark Twain said - essentially the same statement. Christians aren't even supposed to WANT proof beyond this. Remember "Doubting Thomas"? "Blessed are they who have not seen and who have believed."

WHAT DOES THAT REALLY MEANS WHEN WE SAY THAT ZAKAT HAS TO BE GIVEN TO MUSLIMS WHO REALLY NEED IT?
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE MUST RECIEVE ZAKAT?
CAN WE GIVE ZAKAT TO A PERSON AND NOT TELL HIM THAT WHAT EVER WE ARE GIVING HIM IS ZAKAT?
IN OUR DAYS THEY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE RECIEVING ZAKAT AND ASKING FOR IT, IT CONFUSES ME.
HOW TO CALCULATE ZAKAT?
WHAT ABOUT GOLD OR SILVER THAT WE HAVE FOR YEARS,DO WE HAVE TO GIVE ZAKAT ON THAT EVERY YEAR?
OR WE GIVE ONCE AND IF WE GET MORE WE TAKE OUT ZAKAT FOR THAT ONLY?
WHAT ABOUT PRODUCTS THAT WE BUY TO SELL?

Let's say the Pastor at the church I attend has a first name of Bill.

I have always called him "Pastor Bill", but he almost always responds in writing as just "Bill". I am expressing my respect for his title, while I get the impression that he is humbly expressing his equality with the congregation.

The congregation is rather casual, and many call him "Pastor Bill" while many others call him "Bill." I suspect that if I asked him directly, he would say that I can use any name I feel comfortable with using. The fact is that I'm not comfortable with either. "Bill" sounds very casual and lacking respect while "Pastor Bill" sounds very formal and lacking familiarity.

Granted, this question isn't of any dire importance but I'm curious for your perspectives.
