Yes. My sisters and I have very different religious beliefs (I am a Christian and they are New Age). I love my sisters and although I shared my religious beliefs with them many years ago (like 15 or so) I do not discuss religion with them on a regular basis, only if they bring it up (which has happened only once with my little sister). They still feel extremely uncomfortable being around me, for whatever reason, so I kind of stay away by choice and kind by force (they don't let me know of family events or don't invite me to them). It is really weird though. We get along great in emails and on the phone, but when we are in the same room together you can cut the tension with a knife! So I just respect their need for distance and stay away (even though it is very painful not taking part in the lives of my nieces and nephew.)

It depends on the circumstance. People have stayed away from me when I needed them most and had a bad effect on me. However, yes sometimes it can be the best thing to do for someone.

Yes Midge, some people are vexing to your spirit and steal your inner peace,I keep getting emails from a certain group here that are full of anger simply because they think they have God and scripture in their back pocket, and if a Catholic gives an answer no matter how logical it drives them mad.
Therefore I will not answer their tribal rants anymore but continue to try and make right their egotistical claims.

Yes, I do. I have seen these instances a couple of times in my life. Remeber that Jesus said that " a good tree bears good fruit, a bad tree bears bad fruit." Know a tree by it's fruit. Does this person bring you down? Lose em'. Try to save them somehow, but if they don't want to, lose them. Remember there is a such thing as guilty by association. Also, God warns of being around people with bad tempers, because this can rub off on you also. I hope this helps. God bless.

Yes. I agree. You want to actively love all people, but sometimes people are so entrenched in their own hatred and judgmentalism, that it starts to vex your spirit. YOu can't let the phobics get you down.
But, in your own space, far far away from them, you can still pray for them every chance you get, that God would give both of you enlightenment and peace and understanding, right?
