The reason you got these answers is because you didn't direct it towards Catholics, though a few threw there two cents in.Rephrase it and watch all the "workers" rationalize their religion in a most pitiful way.

I'll answer you from an LDS perspective. Many people think we don't believe in grace. That is inaccurate. We do. We also believe we should do ALL we can do. Yes, Jesus paid for our sins for us. Yes, salvation is a free gift. But what kind of person are we if we are willing to just take that gift without showing our gratitude. In my opinion, we show our gratitude through our works.
Here's a beautiful scripture from the Book of Mormon that clearly shows our beliefs in work and grace:
2 Nephi 25:23 - For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

We are saved by Grace after all we can do.
All may be saved by the Atonement of Jesus Christ. To receive this there are certain requirements. Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism and the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Doing these things requires us to do something. Doing something is 'work'.
The second aspect of works is that Jesus said not all who call him Lord will be saved. Those who clothed the naked, fed the hungry and visited the sick were welcomed into the kingdom. Those who don't are not truely converted, and dismissed.
Third works that are charity, are the best way to show our love for the Savior. When you are in the service of your fellow man you are only in the service of your God.

We are not saved by works, we are saved through Christ Jesus. Works are the deeds that we accomplish here on earth. We will never be done doing good deeds. Just becase We are already saved, doesn't mean that we can do whatever we want. We still have to live in accordance to God's word.

I'ma christian, and this is what I read in the Bible.
Ephesians 2:8-10 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
We are saved FOR good works, but not by them. In fact, until we are saved, it is impossible for us to do a good work.
People asked Jesus what a good work was. This is what he said. 28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” John 6:28-29
Translation- in order to be saved, we must believe in Jesus Christ and accept His free gift of salvation. When this happens, He will send His Holy Spirit to live inside us, and we will begin to live differently, because we love Him, and because He is changing us

We are saved by faith by grace. Works are considered things done in the Name of Jesus Christ. How can we do anything for Jesus without faith. If we are walking around saying I am going to do something good today but it's not for the love of Jesus then it's all in vain. We will never do enough to be saved, that's why we are saved by faith by (GRACE).

Well if u r a christain u do not get saved by works. We get saved if we really believe in God and believing that he sent his Son to die and save us. We need to follow the Bible and God's commands.

Jas 2:24:
"You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone"
If you read the rest of James 2, you will see that James give examples of works ... each example is of one following God's commands.
Further, Jas 2:17:
"So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead"
So, what "works" is the pertinent question. As Jesus himself said in Luke 11:28:
"Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it."
Peace,
MoP

Works will not get you saved. You must know that you are a sinner and that Jesus is the Son of God and He paid the ultimate price of sin! You can not work for that!!!! But on the day of Judgement for believers, we will be rewarded for our good works for Him...this is like spreading the Gospel, singing for Him, helping others to find Him in their hearts...etc! You could do all these things and not believe truly in your heart that Jesus is our Saviour and you can still be sent to the lake of fire!

We are saved by faith in Christ, alone.
However, our works are the evidence of our faith.
Jam 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jam 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jam 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Jam 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
Jam 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jam 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jam 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jam 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jam 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jam 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Everybody knows we are saved by grace. Even the Catholics say it but they do works too. Mostly we are saved by love. It would be good if you got some. It is really quite pleasant
