Of course, I'm not talking about the fiction in the bible.

Why hasn't your god EVER showed up, like in My Lai, Amritsar, The Holocaust, 9/11, The Gulag, Tiananmen Square, etc?

Why didn't he send a flaming bush, a star in the sky, heck, angels blowing their bugles, warning people about what was going to happen, so they could flee for their lives?

Why didn't he part the lands or the seas, and then smote the baddies?

Why do all those fantastic things happen ONLY in the bible?

Could it be god is just a delusion?

Whenever I ask a question or make a statement questioning their beliefs or existence of God, they get mad at me. I even get responses such as, "You are going to hell for not believing," or "Doesn't hell scare you?" I have no proof of hell even existing so why would I be afraid? Many even walk away from our conversation. Is it the fact that maybe I am correct and they just don't want to admit it? This is not meant to judge them in anyway. I just want to know why they do that?

First I would like to thank all those who answered my question, now I must ask another "blood" question. I am not a vampire so relax.

Since Jehovah's Witness don't believe in Transfusions even if it's their own blood, what about Dialysis? Are you allowed to take part in Dialysis?

Hi, I'm dealing with a church situation where my leaders, who I once totally trusted, seem to be acting in spiritually abusive ways towards the congregation. When I confront them about it honestly, they seem to act like nothing happened, or they twist the situation into something else, and I end up feeling crazy for questioning them.

Why/how do leaders become this way? Can people be THAT self-unaware that they would not see their own manipulative tactics? I'm really confused about how good, upstanding people can suddenly flip-flop and become authoritarian, manipulative, and worse, unable to acknowledge any wrong or see their own faults in any way. It's like all of a sudden we don't speak the same language, or live in the same reality, because they do these really intensely harsh things, and then two seconds later, it's like they didn't even see how harsh they were being....where does that disconnect come from?

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thanks for your help...

I want honest answers to this hypothetical question. I don't want "gosh, I don't know, it would've been so tough" or "everybody NEEDS God and this is why: _____".

REALLY, how would you have handled your big problems without God?

From a website:
"Heathen and Communist nations have laws against reading the Bible or having prayer in public schools, but did you know that God, the Bible, prayer and witnessing are ALSO BANNED and OUTLAWED on the schools and campuses of so-called "Christian" AMERICA! This is clearly a wilful rejection of the laws of God! On many of the same campuses and universities where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is illegal, accredited courses in the OCCULT, Hinduism and WITCHCRAFT are available to interested students!"
Furthermore, in "Christian" America, it is now ILLEGAL to celebrate CHRISTMAS, the birth of Christ, in public schools, or even to have a nativity scene on any public property! Even the giving of religious CHRISTMAS CARDS to classmates is against the law!

Now, this doesn't necessarily mean a person you think is stupid. People get voted off for all kinds of reasons -- because they take too long to answer, to create a definite gender majority, or because they are too smart and no one wants to go up against them in the final round.

I mean this all in good fun :)

Every day I pray that God would use me to bless and encourage people and I ask God to use me in a mighty way.

At this time I am not working ( I am activelly seeking employment) and I dont always have the money to send cards or letters to people as I would like. I spend a lot of my time looking for jobs, cleaning my home, praying a lot for people,

But my question is even though I pray to be used by God to bless others, I am doing normal and ordinary things, How can I encourage and make a difference in peoples lives even in the every day tasks of life?

Think of it like this. If you have someone steal your car. Then you find out who stole your car and tell them you forgive them. Then, they say what did I do wrong? They only stole your car so they can make some money. If they do not think they did wrong then you cannot forgive them. If you think you are a good person and say you are a Christian then you might want to examine yourself with what the bible says. If you are already good in yourself Jesus did not die for you.

He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

After the fact that there's no evidence of course, because well there isn't.

1. Occam's Razor (God is much harder to explain than any
scientific theories, therefore the theories are most likely the correct explanations)

2. evolution (God didn't create each species all at once, there was one common ancestor some 4 billion years ago which evolved)

3. contradictions and fallacies in Holy Books (there's a lot!)

4. the number of diverse religions in the world (not every religion can be right according to them)

5. poor morality and violence shown in Holy Books (isn't God supposed to be perfect?)

6. The super-ego projection: A psychological explanation as to why people invent gods just as a perfect version of themselves. That's why most gods are men (patriarchal) and the same ethnicity of the believers.(Indian gods are Indian!)

7. Self-contradictory nature of God: Can God microwave a burrito so hot that he cannot eat it? Who created God?
All those 'logical' arguments

After all, faith by definition is - belief without reason or proof.

Can it ever be anything but blind?

Such as the new OnStar that can be put into cars--they can totally stop your vehicle. Right now it is billed as a unique way to stop thiefs but, it could stop a Christian from fleeing for their lives later too.

"Be a sinner, and let your sins be strong, but let your trust in Christ be stronger, and rejoice in Christ who is the victor over sin, death, and the world. We will commit sins while we are here, for this life is not a place where justice resides... No sin can separate us from Him, even if we were to kill or commit adultery thousands of times each day." ('Let Your Sins Be Strong, from 'The Wittenberg Project;' 'The Wartburg Segment', translated by Erika Flores, from Dr. Martin Luther's
Saemmtliche Schriften, Letter No. 99, 1 Aug. 1521).
