Of course, I'm not talking about the fiction in the bible.
Why hasn't your god EVER showed up, like in My Lai, Amritsar, The Holocaust, 9/11, The Gulag, Tiananmen Square, etc?
Why didn't he send a flaming bush, a star in the sky, heck, angels blowing their bugles, warning people about what was going to happen, so they could flee for their lives?
Why didn't he part the lands or the seas, and then smote the baddies?
Why do all those fantastic things happen ONLY in the bible?
Could it be god is just a delusion?

Did anyone miss the "fantastic things" part?
I mean, what he did to the evil egyptians and the way he parted the seas for Moses and his flock....
That's not something we've seen recently.
"free will" my shorts.

I mean you no offense, but this question is a logical fallacy. You know the massacres that *have* occurred but you don't know which massacres *haven't* occurred. Even leaving God out of the equation, you cannot say, "Look. There's never been a massacre that was going to occur that was stopped from occurring (for whatever reason)." History doesn't have a way of recording events that didn't happen.
I feel sure that there are many horrible things that could have happened on the earth that God has stopped. We could talk about this further, as I do feel certain that there are many *heinous* things that could have happened on the earth that have been staid by the hand of God.
But hand of God or not, how on earth can you say that something that you cannot prove --- that there are massacres and holocausts that were on the verge of happening but didn't --- proves anything?

If God is a delusion, why do you question God's existence? For someone who thinks all these appearances as impossible, you'd better off be not thinking of it at all. It'll save your energies.
If you read the bible, you'd notice a pattern: in the Old Testament, God's presence and wrath were more direct and instantaneous, as in the Red Sea incident. In the New Testament, however, His sentences were slower and almost pensive, as in Saul's journey to Damascus. Saul had taken part in a lot of massacre against Christians before he was struck blind by a force and converted to Christianity and became Paul.
Maybe God decided not to persecute those who persecute mankind. It will make Him look bad, now, wouldn't it? Besides, who likes to worship a destructive god?
That is also the reason why the concept of Hell is conceived. Men have been forewarned; it is up to them to decide the ultimate journey - Heaven or Hell.
If God is a delusion, it's a very rewarding one.

It is hard to say if God will ever take human form again. However, in Revelation, it speaks of God setting up a real kingdom here on earth to rain for 1,000 years. Now will God be in human form? This we don't know. But we are told that Jesus is the one to return, and Jesus is the human form of God. So, it is very possible.

Why should God help us? What have we ever done for Him? We ban religion from schools and give pornographers more rights than believers. How many people go to church every Sunday ... ANY church? Do you? Remember after 9/11 all the signs posted everywhere that said "God Bless America"? Where are those signs now? Where is God? He's the same place He was when you were lying, cheating and sleeping one off after a Saturday night.
Ask yourself this -- if America was your friend named, oh let's say Bob, and Bob actually managed to get people to believe a lot of nasty rumors about you, told lies about you, banned your name from his lips and those of his family and friends, never came to visit you and outright said you were a fake and a fraud. Then, something bad happens to Bob -- his house burns down or he gets cancer -- and he calls you begging you to help him out. Do you jump right in your car and rush over there with your arms and checkbook open wide? Keep in mind too that Bob has done this routine in the past many times and each time you save his butt, he goes right back to treating you like a disease.
Keep in mind also that there is a big difference between forgiveness and letting yourself be used.

I know you aren't really interested, but the current conflict between good and evil began in heaven.
Satan claimed that he and his angels did not need God's laws and rebelled which caused a war there. This resulted in Satan being cast out of heaven.
This world is a small test tube and all the other worlds and beings are watching this controversy play out here. God has given Satan temporary control of this Earth so that the full results of disobedience to God's law can be demonstrated to the Universe for eternity.
In the meantime terrible things can happen to those here on Earth, but none worse than what Gods own son was subjected to.
In the end, those who were persecuted here will have an eternal reward which will make their death here seem a small price to pay.

IF you read the bible you might find your answers, but I will attempt to answer this best I can.
The reason there are so many amazing good vs. bad stories about the Israelites is because they were God's chosen people because of his covenant (his deal) with Abraham. So he was always sticking up for them and doing things for them (or punishing them). But after Jesus died on the cross God was no longer just on the side of the Israelites, he was on everybodies side - not that he wasn't before but Jesus' gift is for everyone and most of the jew's - and still a good percentage of them - rejected him...Jesus.
Now things like that happen sometimes in this world, on a smaller scale, but I believe that God is giving everyone a choice.
This is hard to answer and it IS a good question for sure.
Noah's flood happened because the earth was so filled with evil that God had just about enough of it. The bible says that people were living around 900 years then. So they were not in the least bit primitive. Think of having Albert Einstein living 900 years? Or having Fidel Castro Running his country for 600 years?(I'm not saying Cuba is an advanced country) Things were very different.
So God wiped out everone and everything except the people on Noahs ark.
Today many things are happening and much is yet to come.
But it is predicted that things will get MUCH worse before God comes down.
!!POINT!! :God is all ready warning us. With the Bible. If you read in the new testament and into revelations you see the warnings over and over again. There is even a passage that basically says (this is paraphrased) If the don't believe in the word they won't even believe if the dead rise from the grave and tell them" - Jesus' parable about the Rich man and Lazerus the poor blind man.
The Bible is the warning, and sinse God has giving his warning he doesn't need to medel in our affairs unless we ask him to through prayer.

Well, the fact that God does not help us out in tough times kind of goes along with the bible. When Eve ate fruit from the tree, she opened the world up to all those bad things. Now that's according to the bible, so that tells it like it really is when it comes to God. A lot of people don't like it and think God is evil, but that's just the way it is.

I will ask Him all of these things when I see Him. But in the meantime, I would think that because He allows His children freedom of choice, He doesn't step into every fracas, war or terrible situation. We learn by consequences, sometimes slowly, but we learn. We now know war is bad. But we also have bad people running governments, greedy people and businesses who get wealthy from wars, etc. If God stepped in every time His Children did stupid things, we would be puppets and He would be terribly busy.
Looking back over my life, abuse, etc. I know He was there all of the time, crying at times when I did; but I have never doubted that , years later, looking back, I see how my choices or those of other people did the damage, not God. Yes, he could have stopped someone from abusing me, but then what? I learned from the experience, and now use that situation to help others.
God is a mystery, and if there is no God, then it still is good to follow something rather than float around and believe in nothing.
As to fantastic things happening in the Bible, weren't there also horrible things happening?
I don't question God as much as I question the choices our leaders make. Hopefully, they aren't thinking that God will intervene. That would be the calamity!!! God the Almighty rescuer. I think not! We need to use our brains more, and think love, not greed.

How do you know God has NEVER stopped a genocide? Did it ever occur to you that maybe he stopped it BEFORE it started?? Or maybe He CREATED it? My theory on the Holocaust was that the Jews were decreased in numbers so they could have there own homeland. Being God's chosen people, they needed a place to belong. Also, great atrocities bring forth changes in the way people see things, like in 9/11. There were many times in the Bible God allowed civilizations to be destoyed, such as Babylon, Jericho, etc. Perhaps imagry in the Bible wasn't exactly as we picture it being described, the book has been translated into over 144 languages over 2000 years. I do believe in miricles, they happen every day, but some things should be translated in a less literal sense.

Apparanty you're completely unaware of how God stops massacres. Ever read the book of Esther?
As for the Holocaust - maybe that's what the war was really about. God is at work in unexpected ways to stop evil from going too far. Much of the Old Testament is about that subject.
