Yesterday I was "dared" to ask this question:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlfitpEm7onuIhtmhGA6KMLsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070917110836AABQqMC

In response, some Christians answered rather defensively.

The question was not my own, but in retrospect I agree with it for the most part. If we take R&S as the only example, the characteristics the Pagans display are much more on par with what we as Christians should be striving for. The Christians constantly display bad scholarship, misunderstanding of other people and groups, lack of sympathy, and outright offensiveness. (No it's not all Christians of course.)

My first friend/contact here was a Pagan. (Hi, Riegan!) She immediately showed kindness and acceptance to me, even though our religious beliefs differed. On R&S Pagans as a whole seem to be less offensive and more accepting.

Why were so many Christians personally offended by this claim? Do you disagree with it?

Ok so it occured to me (and is actually backed up by the Bible) that maybe the Pagans were right.. maybe there are actually multiple Gods...
The Bible backs this up when it says "God" told people not to worship any other Gods but him.. this implies that there are other Gods...

I have noticed that the Trinity is most confusing primarily when people try to make it sound like Monotheism.

However, when it is explained as polytheism then it makes perfect sense.

Is the Trinity concept so confusing for most people because many people are trying to explain a polytheistic concept as monotheism ?

The Jews and Muslims totally agree that the Trinity is not Monotheism and the Trinity is foreign to the Abrahmic message.

"In the mind's eye conjure up a picture of one of your primitive ancestors of cave-dwelling times--a short, misshapen, filthy, snarling hulk of a man standing, legs spread, club upraised, breathing hate and animosity as he looks fiercely just ahead. Such a picture hardly depicts the divine dignity of man. But allow us to enlarge the picture. In front of this animated human crouches a saber-toothed tiger. Behind him, a woman and two children. Immediately you recognize that such a picture stands for the beginnings of much that is fine and noble in the human race, but the man is the same in both pictures. Only in the second sketch you are favored with a widened horizon. You therein discern the motivation of this evolving mortal. His attitude becomes praiseworthy because you understand him. If you could only fathom the motives of your associates, how much better you would understand them. If you could only know your fellows, you would eventually fall in love with them."

The message of Jesus was primarily for the Jews so Paul created a non Jewish version and introduced some of the non Jewish theology (pagan) into the faith to make it attractive to them ?

Counting Crows asked a question, but he/she has blocked me for some reason. I don't think I've ever answered one of this person's questions.

Anyway, I want to hear the joke too.

To make such a statement you would have to have complete knowledge and to have been everywhere in the universe. Maybe God dwells somewhere in the universe you don’t know of or have not been to? Is that possible?

Muslims are everywhere and are all different.

Stereotypes do not work for them all............. like for example this Muslim ----

My reaction: Interesting story. Let's wait a bit and give the experts a chance to study it before we start making any conclusions.

Christian reaction: It's a sign from god. No further study is required.

The Old is full of blood guts and damnation. What I would want a God to be. Also full of unbelieveable things. i.e, If the great flood happened. Where did all the rain come from, and where is it now?
The New. Is full of some truly great ideas and some wonderful concepts. I do not deny that. But is a little contradictory and a little Holier than thou.
Jesus had a good idea.
Why not leave it at that?
What is your opinion?

The fact that they are in here makes me wonder if they are insecure about what they believe. After all we hate in others what we see in our self.

If they are in spirituality then maybe they aren't so sure after all...

People kill for a number of reasons. Just because I support religion does not mean I support killing in the name of religion. If you are white and your ancestors had slaves, are you personally accountable for the horrible things they did?
