Idol worship has been there since the beginning of time and it will always will be.

My religion teaches me that there is only the ONE god, and not to associate any other with him.

Peace

would you seriouisly bow down to a peice of wood, stone or whatever material. No....and neither did our ancestors before us. There is a massive difference between idol worship and carving something that only serves to remind you of the closeness of the Gods....though a most prominent religion has yet to work that out....and it has been a good two thousand years as well....

Agree with phil_ the_ sane
that was a shame John Lemon I would not have thrown it away they are an ignorant lot

Edit I would guess that they make an idol out of the Bible
The Bible is there for us like the Sabbath and not the other way around

people who are against idol worship do silly things themselves which they feel has a right to exist- like facing mecca, or wearing a cross. If one does not make sense i feel so doesnt the other. Its all about ' my religion being better than yours- so lets look down and mock the things you do'attitude. I am an aetheist

My particular view is
A) I am unconcerned about symbols (if people want a symbol/icon etc fine by me)
B) False gods (of the idol kind) are not real so I'm not going to get hung up about it. Happy to appreciate them as art works sometimes.
C) .......but idolatry is what people worship. Money? Power? Religious legalism? Self righteousness? hmm they concern me

Not a good idea. In fact, punishable by death. Even so far as one must willingly forfeit their life instead of bowing to an idol.

I gave a very costly porcelain piece of "The Ascenscion" to a protestant christian friend as a present during his house warming party, he said he liked it very much, but he threw it away behind my back - I found out later his church members say it's idolatry
Man, I was pissed. I thought,...oh man!...sh.it! this christian sheeple are sick!

I worship cake. There is not a God in any of the religions who is better than cake. Any God who says you can not worship cake is obviously a wheat intolerant hippy.
