No. You are wrong. Virgins should abstain from sex until marriage. But church is not a 'museum of the perfect.' It is rather a 'hospital for the wounded and damaged!' Even those who have damaged THEMSELVES.

I cannot speak for or about other religions; however the only Christians I've ever heard about who were totally against sexual expression of *any* kind were the Shakers. The only way they could add to their membership roles was through proselytism. As far as I understand, this is the primary reason that that denomination no longer exists!

I don't know what denomination of the church you are talking about is; but here's what I understand about the whole *sex* thing! 1. God looked upon all that He had created and pronounced that it was "very good" and told all living creatures to "go forth and multiply"(this would include the sex drive of mankind) 2. Christianity is *not* against sex, just against sex *outside* of marriage; 3. my denomination (Assembly of God) does *not* demand you clean yourself or your life up before you can step through the door, or before you become a Christian - God does that, if you allow Him to do so; 4. our church believes that we are a "hospital for sinners", not a "rest home for saints"; 5. God will help you *through* all your struggles and tribulations, including those concerning your sex drive; but He will not heal you of all the consequences of the sins you have, or shall commit.

Edit: Sorry, Sherr, you are wrong! "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." Hebrews 13:4 (NIV) (This sounds to me like God considers sex to be holy within the bounds of marriage!)

LOL You don't have to be a virgin to enter a church. They want women to be virgins until marriage, which is totally different.

As for the question of why religions in general forbid women to have sex before marriage or with other partners, it has more to do with being sure of the paternity of the kids than religion. Patriarchy was the way of life, children descended from their father and got all their good parts from him, without DNA test you had to control the owner of the womb and thus the whole woman to make sure that the kids were their official father's. So to make it easier it got written in religion.

I never heard that before in fact I was taught that each man should have one wife.
1 Timothy 3:2 A religious leader is called to be a husband of one wife. But sex outside of marriage is wrong.
1 Corinthians 7:2Because of the prevalence of fornication each man should have a wife and women should have a husband.
and they should not deprive each other of sex it is a gift from God. If you get mad at him you can't say well now I am not going to have sex with you. That would be a sin.
Women are admonished to love their husbands and respect them and their authority.
I have never heard that it was okay to be a virgin.
1 timothy 4:3 says to stay away from religions that forbid men to marry. Because it was from Satan.
That sets a man up to sin, because sex is a normal natural desire that needs a healthy outlet. Such as a marriage arrangement.

The whole point of why Jesus came, was to give his love to both those who have overcome habitual sin and to those who are still caught up in sin. If you are going to a church that requires you to be a virgin, they are not following the teachings of Christ. God tells us not to have premarital sex or sex with people of the same sex. There are numerous consequences for such. Most of them are obvious. Other consequences have alot to do with forming spiritual bonds with people whom you will not be with forever. If you want to see how much damage this causes, look at some of the questions in the Family and Relationships - Marraige and Divorce sections of Yahoo answers. People are having such a hard time being faithful to the spouses because they have gotten used to having someone new all the time. This causes great damage to families, especially those with children. Sex is a gift from God for those who have committed to marraige and enduring hardships with each other. But, if you are not a virgin, God will certainly forgive you if you ask him and can help you to be free from the bonds you've formed with people, so you can be ready to be a wife, and more importantly, so that you can be whole again and ready to submit your whole heart to him.

Oh my none of are against sex after all we are because of that. People of variuos religions even peay to sex organs (phallic worshp eg Linga), thugh it i svery ancient practicde. This ban on sensual pleasures are banned for the ppl who want experience the Divine for if we control our desires (kama, krodha, lobha) of the outer world so as to turn oyrselves completely pure.
For a normal person, most religions are against masturbation and homosexuality as these are not in the nature but sex is indeed in nature so why shuold we ban it when it is the root cause of the sustance of our race

Christians are not opposed to sex. God created sex and it is a wonderful thing between a husband and wife! That is why God made sex, for a MAN and a WOMAN who are married.
When you have sex outside of marriage or with the same sex, that is a sin. Fornication and homosexuality are sexual immorality. You do not have to be a virgin to attend church!
If you are a virgin and attend church, it would be nice if you practice sexual purity. But if you are not a virgin, you can still go to church and start practicing sexual purity. :o)

Before marriage. Yes. This is to ensure that there is protection and safe ground between two people. Sex is the greatest thing that a human being to do to express themselves to eachother. It is to be held in great esteem. This ensures that if and when the married couple have a child that child will be brought up in a home where both parents are present. It also ensures that there will be no STD's. It ensures that both male and female can express themselves and be free with eachother. Sex is exclusive to marriage becasue many of the worlds problems are because of people having sex outside of marriage.

God wants sex to be a special thing, shared only by a husband and wife. It is not as special for you both if you have had sex with multiple partners before you are married. To correct your statement, "for being in church you need to be a virgin" - I don't know where you heard that, but it is not true.

I don't know of any religion that is against sex . Without sex all the churches would be empty .
When two people take a baby to church to be baptized , do you believe that the preacher or priest thinks they're virgins ?
Come on ! You know better that that .
