some of you state that god has proved himself by the evidence of his creation.

doesn't that negate the need for faith, and ultimately prove god doesn't exist.

HITCH-HIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful [as the Babel fish] could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the nonexistence of God.

The argument goes like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn’t thought of that," and promptly disappears in a puff of logic.

Please note that many of you didn't answer the last question correctly; that is, I didn't ask if you agreed if there were ten commandments or not, or if they had any relevance. The question is assumed already; so, despite whether you believe or not, answer the question directly. In this case, I"m looking for a yes or no. Listen to your conscience and answer truthfully. Remember, it doesn't matter if you broke one yesterday and not today, if you have broken one just once at any time, you've broken them all (James 2:10, for whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all). While you are at it, answer this one to; will you go to heaven or hell, based on your answer? I thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. In the meantime, I'm working on the next question. God bless!!

Ok, I would love to get some feedback on this one and please nothing negative. I was a religious studies major in college and studied the life of mohammad. Earlier in his life he sought refuge and learned from many of the Gnostic Christian acsetics that lived in Saudi Arabia at the time. Gnosticism was very much the norm in the area at the time so one could deduce that he learned from Gnostics and founded a religion. It was even said his wife was a Christian and many of his family members in the Qurash. What do you say?

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The (Last) Hour will not come till the sun rises from the place of its setting. And on the day when it rises from the place of its setting even if all the people together affirmed their faith, Do they then wait for anything other than that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord should come, or that some of the Signs of your Lord should come (i.e. portents of the Hour eg, arising of the sun from the west)! The day that some of the Signs of your Lord do come, no good will it do to a person to believe then, if he believed not before, nor earned good (by performing deeds of righteousness) through his Faith Say: "Wait you! we (too) are waiting"

Only by infidelity is divorce allowed.

Otherwise the two newlyweds will be committing adultery for the rest of their lives.

Do you agree with this New Testament Law ?

Let's suppose that I accept that there's a divine being that created the world and continues to have interest in it.

The way I see it there are essentially two possible ways in which this deity has made itself, and its handiwork, known to me.

First, it could have written a book - literally, a book. In this book it could lay out *some* things about its creation but since its creation is infinite - spatially, temporally and cognizantly - and the book is necessarily finite, it could not say everything.

Alternatively, it could provide me with the intelligence, curiosity, free will and resources to explore its creation on my own - to allow me to "turn the pages" of an infinitely-paged 'book' through my own explorations - both triumphs and failures. Maybe not truth but at least verisimilitude.

It seems to me that the latter is more likely of a divine being. Your thoughts? (And, btw, I said "...suppose that I accept...a divine being..." so please no "sky fairy" comments.)

A friend of mind recently had a bitter experience with a very close friend of many years. I suggested that they try and come together and seek reconciliation. My friend said, "I am tired of always having to be the one to apologize. I don't want to have a meeting."
I am trying to have an open mind. Why is it so difficult for people to seek forgiveness and reconciliation? Why do we give up on each other? Should there be a limit to how often we forgive?

Your comment welcome.

the Christians are trying to teach the Jews to believe that Jesus was the savior of the world and the Mormons are trying to convince the Christians that Jesus Christ has a restored church and a true religion?

I mean of coarse main stream Christians and not Mormon Chirstians.

Yes Mormon are Christian. Most of us join because of a love for the savior.

Before you remark how wrong Mormons are keep in mind I'm just pointing out a funny parody

DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i often hear people refer to josephus, a jewish historian who was alive near the time of jesus' alleged existence, when arguing on the existence of jesus. after reading the passages from the antiquities which reference jesus, aka testimonium flavianum, two things occured to me. one, if jesus was alive, he and josephus were not alive at the same time and/or they did not know each other personally. and two the wording of the testimonium flavianum (depending on which translation you read) tells of jesus as being more of a folk loric hero, than an actual person. he references only what other people said of him, and nothing of his own personal account. so why do those who attempt to validate the existence of jesus so often cite josephus when making their arguments?

This might sound weird to some of you but this has been happening my whole life.....The energy emanating from me turns out lights, demagnatizes credit cards, locks up computers, breaks watches, cell phones, pdas, cash registers, ANYTHING that I touch or I'm near....especially when I get upset or excited. I know that this is a real phenomonon that's been studied but I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED?
I do Feng Shui for a living so I'm very faimiliar with the energy surrounding us and I've spend most of my life submersed in the teachings of the metaphysical. I'd like to put a name to the things I see happening everyday.

Oh, and whatever this electrical current is has gotten A LOT more intense since the birth of my daughter 2 years ago. Don't know how that correlates but there's been a marked intensity in the frequency of this happening,

So it anyone knows what this is called, or where I can go look online to learn more about it that would be great.
Thanks!!

I went to a seminar, where a preacher was disscussing the book of Genisis, (the first chapter in the Bible) and he was talking about dinosaurs!! He was disscussing the possibility of them being around in this time, and talked about how the flood was the real cause of there dismise( the flood of Noah's ark) as how Noah could"nt (or would"nt) bring them on cause of there girth and Violent behavior, and way he said in the first chapter it does talk about , in one verse an animal, who is discribed as a dinosaur, but isnt given a name, I do belive it said it was a very large animal, and was bigger than an ox, and had a very big tail, ect..I do remeber seeing this, but I can't find it now, does anybody know what verse this is located in, and have any more knowledge on this subject?...Any answers would be apprecaited, and please if you don't belive in the bible and have a negetive comment, you can feel free to keep it to your self! Thanks everyone!! I will be posting more questions later!

Why is that? Do they really think they know everything? Isn't religion itself who should tell them to be tolerant? If they are such better people, how come most of them are not open minded?

So an acquaintance gave me a gift the other day; well, rather he came by and dropped it off on my doorstep with a "nice" note right before leaving town. It's a puppy and he said that he knew how much I loved dogs and how I'd love this one. He's right: I *do* love dogs and this one is really cute and pretty obedient and all but it is pricey to keep what with shots and food and all, kind of a hassle and it was sudden. All-in-all I don't really care to keep it.

I guess my question is: Should I be thankful? Why?

Thanks.

People are totally misunderstand the point. No one is saying pagans are CHRISTIANS. Some think we act CHRISTLIKE. So do some people think that no one but Christians can be "christ like"? No one else can be loving? Yeah, that Ghandi was a real jerk!!

Martin Luther took 7 books out of the Bible.

If the Bible was wrong for so many centuries then does that mean those Christians were misguided during those times ?

I'm curious as to how you pray. I recently heard a woman pray, saying "Jesus, we thank and praise you because we know you're going to heal this woman of her toothache."

CAN she be sure that the toothache is going to be healed? What about St. Paul, who asked multiple times that God remove the "thorn in his flesh," only to be told by God that "My grace is sufficient for you."

If Christians pray like the woman I've mentioned above, doesn't that set people up for disappointment and disillusionment?
