some of you state that god has proved himself by the evidence of his creation.
doesn't that negate the need for faith, and ultimately prove god doesn't exist.
HITCH-HIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY
Now it is such a bizarrely improbable coincidence that anything so mind-bogglingly useful [as the Babel fish] could have evolved purely by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the nonexistence of God.
The argument goes like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," says Man, "The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn’t it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don’t. QED."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn’t thought of that," and promptly disappears in a puff of logic.

haha... thats funny (no really!)
You do bring up a very good point... I think the tipping point for me that led me away from Christianity was the realization that you must have faith... but then when you try to figure out which faith you should commit to, you're stuck because the Christian God will not prove himself.
He doesn't answer prayer (any more than Allah or Buddha will), he doesn't change the realities of illness, poverty, suffering and death... Allah's miracles are just as "convincing" as the Christian God's... like I said, no proof, only faith... which faith? flip a coin (or just be born in the right nation)

Disclaimer: I'm a Christian.
I find Douglas Adams to be some of the wittiest writing I've ever encountered, and found myself laughing at the passage you quoted above. (For an encore, man goes on to prove that black is white, and gets himself killed at the next zebra crossing.)
As funny as I found his writings, I believe that Douglas Adams is now suffering in an eternal separation from God. I cannot prove the existence of God, yet I believe it. You cannot dissuade me from my belief, nor can I pursuade you to believe.
I am called as a Christian to respect you unconditionally, even if you don't agree with me. I hope that more of my fellow Christians will remember that, and start showing the respect that God calls them to show to all people.
It's easy to like and respect the people who believe the way you do -- anyone can do that. I hope that my fellow Christians will remember that we are to love and respect all people, the same way that our God does.

There is no argument against God. The design has a designer and the building has an architect. They do not need to be seen to know there is One. My faith knows that there is One even though He cannot be seen. I see Him only in His creation as Creator.
It is hard for unbelievers to understand omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence. God says, "Be still and know that I am God."

Every religion has a creation story, so disproving evolution only disproves evolution.

Well, I wouldn't say that because I agree with your premise...I don't think God has "proved" his existence (nothing could "prove" that), but he does provide evidence to support it.
Great quote from the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Trilogy...smile!

So you admit that your lack of belief is based on a comic fiction parody o science fiction? Why are you then poking fun of Christians for basing their life on a book?
===edit==
Since atheists stubbornly maintain that "the evidence of his creation" proves nothing, then your argument dissapears because it was rebutted by your fellow atheists. So God remains.

I don't have faith in God's existence. I have knowledge of God's existence. I have faith in his divine wisdom.
