It is extreme and extremely arrogant. God is not physical and is apart from physical creation....how is it then possible to prove or disprove, through physical evidence, such a thing.

Yes,it sounds so but what about the absurdity of the claim of people who insist that God exists?Even that is granted 'as each to his own' but when such believers try and force it down your throat and curse you with hell/fire and abuse you, which sane person could take it any more? One more thing and that is ,to say that a God doesn't exist and /or that one doesn't believe in God, are two different issues.Atheist just don't believe in God,whether existing or not.Like ,you may not believe in George Bush, but he does exist.Lastly,Atheists with their rationality shall be the first one to believe if ever there is ample logical proof, to accept a GOD.Yes,it's possible but hardly plausible.

Q: Isn’t it a bit extreme to assert "God does not exist"?
A: Yes it is. It's about the same level of absurdity as suggesting He, both exists, and that He's the same creature the Christians, Jews and Muslims worship.

I think it's pretty bold to reject God. But then again we are a human race fraught with knowledge, science and rational thought. You know maybe science is right, however I am not going to take the chance, for I don't want to stand in front of the Ancient of Days on my own, I want the Lord Jesus Christ by my side, defending me during the final judgment, saying no my father, this one is my servant this one belongs to me. Now that's what I want. However people have a right to their thoughts of monkeys, and Darwin, who knows maybe they can have an ape speak up for them during the judgement.

The statement "God does not exist" is shorthand for "Based on all available evidence and logic, there is no reason to believe that God exists."

Let's start with this... "God may or may not exist"
Logically, you can't assume that "God dwells somewhere in the universe" before proving whether he exists or not. So by default, God does not exist unless/until his existence is proven.

Not at all. God, or at least the monotheistic description, presents a logical contradiction. Therefore it's perfectly reasonable to assert that he doesn't exist. It's just as logical as saying that square circles don't exist.

Yes. It is extreme and unprovable.
It is however, completely honest and normal to say, "I don't believe in God." or "There is no physical evidence that God exists." These things are fully demonstrable.
