Paul was nothing more than a con man, much like most of the T.V."evangelists" that we have today.
He was an opportunist who saw the chance to restart this con-game that Jesus and his "disciples" had going about 50 years earlier.
Why work, when these "believers" would give you money and feed you? All he had to do, was make up a few stories about walking on water and turning water into wine and stones into bread.
There was no mention of Jesus in the Old Testament ( only the mention of some "Messiah" who would come some day).
So Paul had to tie Jesus to God in some way, in order to give his guy power and credibility.
So he started writing about this " son of God" who was also God.---He then went a step further by making his god much nicer than that mean god of the O.T. --He then told everyone that they could live for ever if they " believed " this B.S.; --but they would burn in "hell" if they didn't,( some choice ).
Many people were suckered into believing this whopper, and Paul got his racket started with the help of members of the old Jesus mob.

well - God anointed Paul as the apostle to the Gentiles - and he did was he was asked to do.
it was not God's plan to make the Gentile believers into Jews. Parts of the old theology no longer applied, except as historical background. Gentiles are a new branch, grafted into the family tree established by the Jews. they're not expected to hold to the old ways.
one has to ask, too... why would Paul want to make Jewish theology attractive to Gentiles?
but it's an interesting topic to debate; keeps a Xtian on her toes.
my policy is to always ask God what he thinks before I do anything. even is it's interpreting Scripture.

The dogma of Paul's 'Christ-cult' was a midrashic up-dating (re-interpretation) of Jewish scripture under the influence of 'modern' Hellenistic philosophical ideas ('Wisdom'... 'Logos'... etc.). His 'christ' was entirely spiritual... i.e., he existed and acted ONLY in heavenly planes. This was entirely consistent with the dozen or so OTHER 'salvation cults' that were extant at the time. If you examine Paul's early writings (the genuine ones... not the ones that were forged by later scribes), while pretending that you know nothing of the 'historical' Jesus that is described in the gospels, it will very quickly become clear to you that Paul knew absolutely nothing about this 'historical' Jesus, either.
Jesus is a FICTIONAL character, invented sometime AFTER 70 AD... as are all the events and the people depicted in the gospels.
Christianity is a fraud (the NT) built upon a myth and pseudo-history (the OT).
Preaching to the gentiles was not so much as 'mission from god' as it was a 'business opportunity' (MLM scam).
"Selling eternal life is an unbeatable business, with no customers ever asking for their money back after the goods are not delivered." ~ Victor J. Stenger
"Businesses may come and go, but religion will last forever, for in no other endeavor does the consumer blame himself for product failure." ~ Harvard Lampoon, "Doon" (paraphrase)

Nope.
The council of Acts 15 demonstrates that the Gentiles did not have to become Jews first, and Christians second.
They were ALL saved through faith in Christ, and not this plus being Jewish or keeping the law.
The Jews had a harder time understanding salvation through faith only than the Gentiles did, seeing as they were culturally conditioned in regards to the law.
So, what in Christianity is "pagan"?

No. He was called to take the fulfillment of the Jewish message to the gentiles. There were only so many Jews that realized the truth about their own religion. The rest closed their minds. Christianity was meant to be non Jewish because it was a message for the whole world, but with roots in Judaism. After the resurrection, the old law was done away with and replaced with the law of grace. A new convenant.

Paul took the teachings of the Old Testament scripture and made it make sense as did other contemporary apostles of his time. The true meaning of the scriptures were hidden from many of the Jews due to the hardness of their hearts. Paul took verses to passages like Isaiah chapter 6:8 " Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
9 ¶ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.
10 Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. "
As the Spirit of God moved Paul he opened up the true meaning of the scripture for others to understand so they too, (whether Gentile or Jew), would understand since the call for salvation is to both the Jew and the Gentile.
Isaiah 42:1 "¶ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. "
I hope this is cleared up for you now.
God bless.

I know this is a good Question when you start to get scriptures for the answer. Yes Sol of Tarsus, later to become Paul had a new tweaked-up version for all he encountered.

No, Paul went out to preach the gospel in a world that was dominated by paganism. He didn't water down anything.

bible was invented to control primtive people. first understand that jesus had alot of people right about him and even negative things (dead sea srolls) but some king (forgot the name) collect only the books that made the bible today and burned the rest that he could get his hands on. That is why the dead sea srolls where hidden to expose the truth. Stop taking things at face value and understand what is going on.
