For me, the old testament are stories of God's relationship with man. It's history filled with many examples and circumstances that I can learn from. The new testament is where I find truth for my own life in today's age. I receive power, conviction, and encouragement. I try not to think about the Bible as a set of rules, but rather as a roadmap to life. I find so much truth everytime I read it, and the power to overcome sin. I am so grateful to God for allowing me to see another day after I know I used to be so triffling, that I don't have a problem anymore to submitting to his authority, because I learned that his ways are truly the best ways even though if I may not be able to see it at the time. He always proves himself to me. God bless.

The Old Testament is very similar to the New Testament if you take a look at it. In the Old, some people believed in God and yet others thought the 10 commandments were the only thing you needed to follow. God brought Jesus down in the New and told us to forget the 10 commandments, because it's not about the rules, it's about matters of the heart. God wanted us to follow someone who never sinned, who was tempted in every way yet his faith never wavered. Yet some believe in him and others do not. God knows this world will never be perfect and neither will we, he just wants a relationship with each one of us. He doesn't want us trying to change others, only he can. He does want us to love each other, whether we have done something good or bad. He gives us all unconditional love no matter what we do, and he wants the same from us.

At year 2513, 1110 years the Old Testament 39 books, many write [ near 40 ]. done 443 BCE, Jesus came and ascended, and the New Testament 50 to 100 years, 27 books, many write, KJV published 1611 CE 396 years ago, now past WW1 and WW2, to present year 2007, this is a must for me, I could not settle for any less than the 66 books, any other do not add anything needed. John 8:32; 17:17;

No disrespect intended presently. However, this is a point of division in 'Christianity'. The scriptural old testament is the law of Moses, not Genesis-Malachi (one deviation from God's word). Further, the Lord (from Genesis-Malachi) was the Lord Jesus Christ (another deviation to God's word) depending on specific copy.
As for stuff like; where did all the water from the flood go? currently, I do not know.

it's easy to prefer one or the other - that's true. when i was an atheist i thought xtians were crazies for having two holy books that ostensibly contradict one another.
asked god about it...
and i had a bit of a revelation (har har), which, it turns out, is supported by "offical" theology... whatever that means:
The OT and NT shows two sides of God. (Of course he has many more; but these are 2 that we're able to understand). The OT stands for God's justice; the NT stands for God's grace/mercy.
Different people relate differently to God. You'll find that those who have trouble accepting their own sin/mistakes will love the OT, because it appeals to the judgemental side of them; and vice versa; I for one, being very conscious of my shortcomings as a human being, am very fond of the NT. But the OT is an essential part of the Bible.
Of course, true balance is understanding that you, and others, are sinful and silly most of the time (OT); but also that you are loved and accepted, that you have nothing to fear as long as you remain honest with yourself and God (NT).

The Old and New Testament are all God's Word. You have to read the whole thing to understand a little bit about God.

I believe anything and everything in both Testaments. I have faith, and do not question God's actions, motives, etc etc. If he said the world was flooded by cherry kool-aid, by gosh I believe it!

I definitely relate more to the New Testament ... but just the first four books. Basically, my faith is based around the gospels.
