Both sides of a religious debate tend to claim the other side is in denial, Theists often claim that Atheists are uncomfortable accepting salvation (I have seen this written as "like a cancer patient who doesn't want to visit the doctor" though I have lost the link at the moment) while Atheists (myself included) often feel that believers have trouble accepting a Godless existence.

Opinions anyone?

So, a christian and a yoga instructor were arguing... well the christian was arguing let me point that out clearly and the yoga instructor was quite calm...the whole thing was about how yoga opens you up to demonic activity and how yoga is bad and not allowed for christians... I remember hearing things like this when I was church but apparently it has gotten more severe... I really want to know what others think...my whole thing is that if christians are so afraid of yoga it is because they are afraid to open their minds up to their own strength. Preachers teach against it because they don't want you to realize you can feel whole and healthy, and relieve stress without having to pray or read the bible...

Nothing bad has happened to me and I have done yoga for years...I guess satan has just fooled me then right?

If someone says "Look here, a flaw in the Bible" your first thought is --

(A) Impossible, it is not a flaw. You are mistaken, but I may read it with you and attempt to help you understand. If I also do not undersand, I will research further and pray until I do understand.

(B) That's highly improbable, but I'd like to see what you have found in case you are correct and my Holy Book is imperfect.

(C) The Bible was written by men, translated by men. It is possible that there are mistakes in the text, but I still do not question God's perfection.

that someone asks why you're here or some other question that's been asked again? Why do you answer those questions to begin with? Just writing "cheers" or "bottoms up" will not get you drunk.

Why do majority christian and catholic countries have the highest crime rates and majority atheist/agnostic countries have the world lowest crime and moral issue rate?

Three quarters of the American population literally believe in religious miracles. The numbers who believe in the devil, in resurrection, in God doing this and that -- it's astonishing. These numbers aren't duplicated anywhere else in the industrial world. You'd have to maybe go to mosques in Iran or do a poll among old ladies in Sicily to get numbers like this. Yet this is the American population.
- Noam Chomsky

There is a strong correlation between religion and moral decadence and high crime rates.

Crime: Murder

19. Poland 0.05 per 1000 people
23. United States 0.04 per 1000 people

Crime: Rape
40. Czech Republic 0.04 per 1000 people
29. Poland 0.06 per 1000 people
9. United States 0.30 per 1000 people

I quote this from another answerer on Y!:

"The reason why the world is getting so bad is because more and more people are rejecting God. If people would do their best to follow the 10 commandments, pray, and embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ, this world would be a much better place to live. If people believed in heaven and hell they would do everything they could to get to heaven and avoid hell"

Seems to me since 90% of all people that have ever lived have been religious, and since the war on terror is the direct result of Christian and Jewish ideologies at odds with Islam this statement is not only completely wrong, but in fact the kind of opinion that only ADDS to the problems of the world.

It’s like saying if everyone just became more Islamic, Christian, and Jewish fundamentalists everything would be OK...your thoughts?
sorry but this just seems like the most ridiculous statement ive seen on Y! in more than a week so i thought i would share.

I'm 16 years old. I don't really believe in god, though sometimes i wish i could. Over the years I have said bad stuff about god.. but when i said it im not sure i meant it...and i do regret it. I feel like I'm going to hell anyway...so why should i try to fix it? I've said hateful stuff about him... and not even tried to imagine there being a god..because i figured it was better that way..then to have to live with knowing i was going to hell

Whatever you believe in is what is right. Like, everybodies religion, whether you believe in God(s) or not.

For example, once you die, if you believe there is a heaven, you will go there, if you believe in reincarnation that will happen to you. If you think you will die and thats it, your dead, that is what shall happen to you.

Do you think this could or work, or is there only ever one religion that is right? What is your opinion?

What will you do in heaven? Don't tell me to just be with God that's not what the Bible says, How can you say, you are going to heaven but not know what you will do there? The answer is in the Bible there is a purpose for which some people (yeah not everybody good)will go to heaven, what is this purpose?
