"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God".
The KEY word here is the "WORD". The word does not literally mean Jesus IS God. Jehovah God wanted the people to experience and to see that they may believe for themselves that He is real and all what He is, IS REAL. God sent Jesus as His messenger to make it known to the world that we all should follow His Commandments and live in faith, hope, & love. God wanted to teach us and so sent His perfect example to the world that we may learn from Him. Jesus said, "He had not come on his own, but his Father that sent him." I think John used "The Word" because that is what Jesus was, the Word (teachings) spoken in REAL LIFE FORM. All what Jesus spoke and taught came to be directly from God so it can be truthfully said the Word is God made manifest in Jesus. Jehovah God gave Jesus all His teachings and words, than sent His only begotten Son to reveal it to us. What do you say about "The Word"?
My thoughts.

I am simply puzzled by one thing: that we were praying to the Christian God, and you were praying to the same Christian God but we are defeated and you have won. Is it not partial?

Luke 11:9
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

Christ is cosmic and made no condition on this statement so it should work for everyone.

Do you look at people expecting them to be stupid and find stupid people all around?
Do you look for signs of the end of the world and see them everywhere?
Do you look for work but know it will be hard to find and keep searching in vain?
Do you look for a person to share your life with but know that those you are interested in are flawed and keep being frustrated at what you find?

Could we change our lives by seeking something positive and putting aside our doubts?
Could we change our lives by changing our minds?

Or would you rather just search for information that supports what you already think you know?

They came to the door and I foolishly didn't check to see who it was before opening. Instantly the testifying began; I have a hard time being rude to someone's face, and kept trying to squeeze a word in when these two ladies noticed my accent--and the whole of the conversation changed.

The Lord, and all of the wondrous things he could do for me was forgotten. Instead, these two middle-aged ladies thought the way I talked was "cute" and kept asking me to talk for them. I was embarrassed and also a little annoyed---if they were sincerely trying to share their belief, that's one thing(despite my disinterest), but to be so patronizing to me and treat me like an entertainment for them is something else entirely.

I was rescued by the dogs, who came barking to the door, allowing me to use them as an excuse to disengage, but by this time, I had already spent close to 20 minutes trying to get rid of them. What is a polite way to respond to such people and still respect their beliefs?

My polite and humble Question was

"Tom Cruise is jumping on Oprah's couch begging everyone to follow scientology, What will you tell him?"

The best answer i chose,
"Mission Impossible,Tom"

No sense of humor. End result, Pissed off scientologists.

Are there FUNDIES in every religion???

Please try to understand the problem before giving your answer.........I have met a great guy that cares greatly for me and loves my kids like his own. We have talked about getting married and having a family and all the things a serious couple talks about. The problem is, is that I am a very devoted catholic and he is a very confused agnostic. I have already made it clear that I am going to raise my children catholic and that I don't want to be with someone that is going to contradict everything they have been taught. He is very arrigant at this point about what he believes or doesn't believe, and has a very twisted way of thinking when it comes to religion. He has how ever agreed to joining R.C.I.A to learn more about the catholic church. My question is, do I stay with him and hope for the best? I'm not in this to force him to become something he doesn't want to become. Or do plant a seed, hope that it sticks and move on with my live? I've already been married to a lukewarm catholic!

Please no stupid answers and hateful answers. Let's get some facts. Please respond if you have good data!

Imagine you are living in the first Century in Asia Minor as a believer in Christ. The Roman Empire and the Jews are persecuting you at both sides. I am not talking about calling you names or treating you unkind. I mean they are putting you in jail, torture and putting you to death for being a Christian. Then along comes messengers, couriers, with letters from the Gospel Preacher/Apostle John. These letters spell out what the future of your enemy is and encourages you to remain faithful to Jesus Christ no matter what happens. How would you feel if you then were told that this letter from John wasn't meant for you but was meant for people in the distant future. What if you were told that these things John were speaking about were not going to happen in the first century AD and you have no hope of overcoming death from the hands of the Romans? Folks the letter we know as Revelation was indeed written to 7 churches in 1st Century Asai Minor and they knew exactly what it meant!

If the Bible is truth ( I believe it is, some don't ), then the only way to eternal salvation is through belief in Jesus Christ, what he did on the cross, and giving your life to Him.

They believe in salvation through works, and that Jesus was less than God - sometimes these people approach me while I'm waiting for a bus, and I only have about 1 minute.

What is a good, short response to them ? - I don't want to just say "No, Thanks" ( I don't want to read your Watchtower magazine ) ??

For those who believe hell is a place of eternal firey torment, how do you explain Rev 20:13
"13. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death." (KJV)

According to the Bible hell is to be destroyed. The lake of fire isn't a place in hell, it represents the second death. Can you explain this?

RULES:

Here's your chance to bring your evidence for creation as a scientific hypothesis. If creation is true, then there should be good evidence to support it's truth claim. Please present evidence for creation that does not violate one of the following criteria.

1) You must give only scientifically verifiable evidence FOR I.D. or Creationism
2) You may not attempt only to discredit parts, or the whole of evolutionary theory.
3) You may not claim that some other scientific principle runs contrary to evolutionary theory, i.e. 2nd law of thermodynamics (which it doesn't, if it did evolutionary theory would have died out years ago).
4) You must at least appear to know what you're talking about.
5) No arguments from ignorance. i.e. "we don't know how X happened, herefore magic man did it."
6) No scripture.
7) Don't post anything that has already be falsified by scientific inquiry i.e. thermodynamics, irreducible complexity, or the Paluxy footprints.

Good luck.
