Imagine you are living in the first Century in Asia Minor as a believer in Christ. The Roman Empire and the Jews are persecuting you at both sides. I am not talking about calling you names or treating you unkind. I mean they are putting you in jail, torture and putting you to death for being a Christian. Then along comes messengers, couriers, with letters from the Gospel Preacher/Apostle John. These letters spell out what the future of your enemy is and encourages you to remain faithful to Jesus Christ no matter what happens. How would you feel if you then were told that this letter from John wasn't meant for you but was meant for people in the distant future. What if you were told that these things John were speaking about were not going to happen in the first century AD and you have no hope of overcoming death from the hands of the Romans? Folks the letter we know as Revelation was indeed written to 7 churches in 1st Century Asai Minor and they knew exactly what it meant!

First of all, the cards won last night-YEA.

Second you are totally correct. Most of revelation was meant for first Cent. Christians!
Revelation 1: 1The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.---soon meant soon.

The Book of Revelations is not a book predicting events in the 20th or 21st centuries. It is a book written to persecuted Christians in the first century. It is written in the symbol language of Apocalyptic Literature which was understood by the churches to whom it was addressed, but not by the Roman oppressors. In a day when many were abandoning their faith, the central message of the book is this: Keep the faith. God will prevail. No matter how dark the day may be, Easter is coming!

The truth is written in the book that explains what John meant by EVERY symbol he wrote in the first place. The churches did NOT know what it meant. The book of Revelation was not even written by then.

"John was well aware of the seven main continents of the earth, and gave the term “churches” as those who gather and belong to a group of people of the same belief and faith. By using the terms of his day relative to Asia and some of its cities, John hid (with divine purpose) the knowledge he had of the other continents outside of the known world in his time. The symbolism of “seven” represents the seven main continents of the entire earth, and throughout Revelation continually symbolizes all the people of the earth."

"The New Testament editors knew little to nothing of any continents other than the region they occupied or legends of more distant places; therefore, they transcribed John’s allegory and presented it as a revelation relevant to the Christian churches known by them at that time, having no idea that the revelation was meant for the latter days when world geography would include seven main continents. The intent of John’s message is for everyone upon all the continents and isles, and all peoples of the earth in the latter days."

Really the most interesting vision from John.
It can really be hard to understand without a doubt living in those times.
Even in these times the seventh seal,
What the heck does all that mean?
However up to the 6th seal i could grasp
that.
pretty heavy stuff.

The best book on the Book of Revelation ever written! It's by Dr. Barbara Rossing, a Lutheran seminary professor. The first thing she says is, "The rapture is a hoax."
