Do you think it is possible to have a relationship with God without the bible and the church?

Thank you!

Let's say the power of prayer could be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Is that sufficient evidence to believe in God?

Just curious. I personally do not believe prayer works.

Our pastor (for six years) went back to school because he felt called to be an apologist (He's friends with Josh MacDowell and contributes to the Tektonics apologist website - a lot)

He was getting a PhD in Comparative Religions and said that there is no evidence that Jesus Christ ever existed! Even the Josephus accounts were bogus, Early church Fathers forged documents to try to "add" Jesus to history, etc.

He is quitting the ministry and starting a collaboration with Richard Dawkins! It looks like our whole church ministry is dissolving and fifty people have already left!

He said that he thought he had all the answers concerning Noah's Flood, Biblical archaeology and Creationism, but that he was just flat wrong about all of it. He was one of the "holiest" men I ever met!
What do I do?

...if he's inferior to God?

And for the record, I believe in Deities, and I pray to my gods and goddesses daily. I just don't believe in the manufactured Satan idea. Just doesn't make sense to me, and seems more like a scare tactic.

I'm not trying to be offensive, and I'm sorry if I do offend, but I just would really like to know the percieved level of Satan's "power?" (That is, for those who believe in him. Atheists, this question is not for you.)

People tell me that I'm a Witch because Satan is influencing me even if I don't know it, but that just seems so silly. Is he really supposed to be THAT powerful that he can do that?? Isn't God supposed to be greater than that?

Please explain.

Christians: is pride always a sin? Is it ever justified? Is all pride the same...pride in yourself, pride in your children, pride in your faith, pride in your country?

Or if you don't believe in "sin," to what extent is pride okay, and when does it cross the line into being obnoxious...even wrong?

I know that you are opposed to getting blood and blood products. If there is a doctor who is a JW, will they order blood or blood products for their patients, or would this go against your religious beliefs? I don't mean this to sound like I'm trying to be rude, I'm not. I'm really curious about this.

My oldest son's girlfriend who lives in another state is SDA and she wants to come here and stay with us during my son's Christmas break from college. I just wondered if they celebrate Christmas. If they do her family would surely want her there for Christmas. I have asked alot of SDA questions here since he has begun dating her and always appreciate your answers.

He or she was still a virgin in his or her 40s? Would you think there was something wrong with them, or would you be proud of them? Would you think they were chaste, or would you assume some hidden perversion?

Something to the effect of "Hey, this guy who has never met me is going to come along and write half of the New Testament," would have been helpful, no?

Think of how the major world religions began. An idea was created, that idea was spread, and people either accepted or rejected that idea. Now, all the major world religions are in place. But would they be here today if it were not for the fact that they all reward their followers on some level? Eternal life, nirvana, re-incarnation, something is offered in each and every one of them. Picture in your mind a man who lived long ago, he considered himself a prophet and spoke of a creature that created the universe and that we must love this being. The simple question that would follow would be, "Why should we follow it?". Would anyone listen to him if he did not offer something? Would they just take his word for it? I can't name one religion without some reward or caveat that exists today.
