I assume they're speaking in the vernacular and not really expressing gratitude to a deity.

I usually purely say "Thank God" if i'm being sarcastic. I promptly use "Thank Goodness" or in basic terms "good!" i became right into a instructor, and developed a habit of warding off words that could have been seen as blasphemous in the class room. even however i did no longer think of of the words as offensive, i got here upon it much less distracting to no longer use them. i will swear, blaspheme, use scatology or be as profane as a results of fact the subsequent person while i pick, in spite of the fact that that is a call.

Usually I simply take the nonconfrontational route and ignore the comment..

Sometimes I mention we could really use some rain as it's like a tinder box around here it's so dry Thus 5 wildfires currently burning within 125 miles of me..

Isn't it obvious as all Atheist's are baby eating satanists we would kill and mutilate them.

What an inane question. I wouldn't do anything neither would the vast majority of Atheists, Hindu's, Pagans, Wicca, etc.

Wonder why they didn't thank God when it was raining or when the storm began.

I think nothing of it, and sometimes say it myself since it is such a common phrase. I usually dont even notice when someone says it.

I remind them that rain is what plants need to survive and that it is science that has taught us that, not god.

I say it is a good thing, because I didn't bring an umbrella today.

I understand the intent of the thought, and treat it as metaphor.
