Something to the effect of "Hey, this guy who has never met me is going to come along and write half of the New Testament," would have been helpful, no?

He lived contemporaneously with Christ, but never met Him. Odd, if Jesus planned on Paul shaping so much of the religion that came to be named after Him.

His whole ministry is based on a "vision" that no one can prove or disprove. He never quotes Jesus' words, or talks about the events of His life, except the crucifixion.

I think Paul invented Christianity. If the church followed Jesus' teachings instead of Paul's, it would be much different (and in my opinion, more loving and accepting of others).

Paul has some beautiful things to say (notably, 1 Cor. 13, "the love chapter") but he often pronounces his opinion as if it were "the gospel"--which it wasn't, and isn't.

Paul sometimes spoke too much in the moment. His letters were never intended by him to become scripture. We could have given him warning but then he wouldn't have been the lesson to pass that he is so we kept him behind a veil and put a thorn in his flesh to allow man the struggle for it is in struggle that man learns discernment.

Oh, I thought you meant Paul McCartney. The mention of that name 2,000 years ago would have made a believer out of me. Yessirree Bob.

Could they invent a better story than a "killer of christians" converting to a jesus loving apostle. Even stories in most fairytales aren't that inspiring.

The fact that ALL the original Apostles recognized him, and the fact of his conversion from a great enemy of Christ into the Apostle to the Gentiles is proof enough. The fact that he did not stop preaching a risen Christ until he was beheaded, is the clincher. Not to mention the miracles he did, did I forget those?

It would have cleared up a lot of confusion if Jesus had written some books himself.

Paul was an apostle, so he worked directly with Christ. He was with Christ through most of His ministry. I would call that knowing Him, wouldn't you??
