“Whosoever calls upon the lord will be saved”, “repeat this prayer after me and your place in heaven will be set”, on and on the messages of salvation flow. It certainly doesn’t sound hard does it? Believe in Jesus, repeat this prayer and confess your sins – then you will be greeted at the pearly gates. For each instance of how easy it is to be saved, the bible has instances that seem quite the contrary. It says “many will seek to enter in and shall not be able”. You missed the end – shall not be able. They try and are not able. The bible also says: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.”

is this a contradicition?

Online, it is hard to tell a Poe from a Fundamentalist. Even if someone is a moderate Christian it would be hard to know if they are being truthful.

What is a litmus test for knowing who is a "real" Christian?

Please forgive me for commiting the "No True Scotsman" fallacy.

He seems to be a really nice guy. I just knew he was a Republican while I was on Facebook but I could swear that he was Democrat. Nothing against my republican buddies but I felt dissapointeed. Now I'm affraid that Hilary is Republican too.

Mitt is Mormon is Mormon, in our religion abortion is a huge No-No.... but I've heard a lot that Republicans are Pro-Choice, so what will happen with this? Has Mitt ever talked about that? Any link or whatever? or was I wrong with the pro-choice thing and Republicans?

No... if you're wondering, I don't like politics, I think it's boring but I want to know this point.

Atheists seem to be highly threatened by religion, Christians and God. Is it their lack of faith and knowing that the possibility exists that they may indeed have to meet their maker on judgement day that they fear the most?

I know God whispers to us but we must be still and listen. sometimes i hear his voice. but sometimes i think i hear the answers that i subconsciously want to hear. On Sunday i heard a preacher say that, when we pray we are having a conversation with God and not a monologue. So once in a while, we must be silent and stop the inner chatter in our head and listen to what God is saying back. what are your experience?

So, if He can forgive us if we confess our sins, do we need to forvide others that have sinned against us?

He ask, "sir, can I have some money for food." Now, before you answer there is a twist, you in your bag of groceries are in possession of a bottle of vodka, 2 packs of cigarettes, and a porn magazine. Do you give him the money?

I'd like to know exactly what IS heaven like anyway? And if Jesus forgives everyone, does that mean we are all without sin and we all get a free ticket? And if that's not the case, and only those without sin get to go, does that mean, that you can't commit sin in heaven? I mean. That would be pretty boring, wouldn't it? Life after death, eternal life without anything fun... that would be hell for everyone. Imagine craving a beer, and then all of sudden, there's Jesus. "Oh man, we just wanted a beer, can we drink? Oh, but don't get drunk? What, I can't hit on that girl either? That's lust!? I wasn't lusting after her! What?! I'm not lying! Jesus Christ, man! Give me a break!" And at that point you go down to hell with the rest of population, right? Hell must be a very busy place, don't you think? I think people need to seriously stop and think about what they are believing in. Isn't real life good enough to just embrace it and not worry about what comes "after" death?

People get all pissy when others type "xtian". It's not a way of "taking Christ out of language". He's still there.

"In ancient Christian art χ and χρ are abbreviations for Christ's name.[3] In many manuscripts of the New Testament and icons, X is an abbreviation for Christos, as is XC (the first and last letters in Greek, using the lunate sigma); compare IC for Jesus in Greek. The Oxford English Dictionary documents the use of this abbreviation back to 1551, 50 years before the first English colonists arrived in North America and 60 years before the King James Version of the Bible was completed. At the same time, Xian and Xianity were in frequent use as abbreviations of "Christian" and "Christianity"; and nowadays still are sometimes so used, but much less than "Xmas".

well, I've heard that the Red Sea that Moses parted was only like an inch deep during that time in history. Which the Israelites easily could've crossed. If this indeed were true, where is the miracle in this? HAHA Pharoahs army drowned in an inch of water hahahah! Hallelujah!

I post this question because I recently saw a movie called "Deliver Us From Evil" which told how the Vatican has continually covered up the 556 counts of reported molestation in the United States. Supposedly it's alright due to the fact that "God Wills It."

I'm so tired of everyone saying how much they hate everyone else's beliefs. What do you LOVE about YOUR beliefs?

Added bonus for:

What do you LOVE about other's beliefs?
What do you ADMIRE about beliefs you disagree with?
What beliefs do you not understand?

Note: I include Athiest beliefs in this- so don't say "I don't believe in anything"
