Yes, there are buildings to meet in and some believe you "must" go every Sunday or Saturday.

But in Fact we the believer make up the "church".

Whether I attend service in a building, home, or outside under a tree or have a radio ministry as we do, I am in the presence of God 24 hours a day seven days a week.

Catholics go to mass; Protestants, to services. Catholics do indeed believe that missing mass is a mortal sin, because they are thus breaking the commandment to keep holy the sabbath day.
It depends on the denomination of Protestants wheteher there is a mass. The Church of England, the Episcopals, have mass. And since Methodists call their church the Methodist Episcopal Church, I assume they too have mass and communion, though probably not at each service.

Catholics have mass, Protestants have worship services( the name can vary according to the denomination). For Catholics, there is an obligation to attend Mass each Sunday according to the 10 Commandments. I would assume that Protestants are required to attend weekly as well. Even if it is not required, I am assuming that they do so that their spiritual lives do not suffer.

Catholics are supposed to attend Mass weekly. If one cannot, or does not want to, attend Mass on Sunday, one can attend a Saturday evening Mass instead.
