Volcano Vik:
It is horrible that anyone should ever be molested, more so by a Catholic Priest. Fortunately, the incidence of this is small - but the cases that do happen receive extensive coverage.
Do not be deceived, many people hate the Catholic Faith and will use any reason to discredit Her teachings. I suspect that the movie you refer to fits that mold.
I have followed the lawsuits and not seen any evidence that the Vatican was involved. Pope John Paul was reining while most of the cases went to court, and he was not implicated in anyway.
It is not God's will that these crimes took place. Rather, the source is the Evil One.
The Catholic Church was established by Jesus Christ Himself, and will stand as a testament to truth till the end of time.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised that pope John Paul didn't take a vocal public stand against the abuses and take responsibility for cleaning the Catholic house. He didn't and they still want to make him a saint. Go figure.
I don't know the number of molestations in the U.S. but it's a lot more than 556.

It is my belief that people continue to follow the vatican because they are devout Catholics....the sins of the few must be accounted for. However it is not enough to turn people against their belief in the holy trinity nor in their rituals that lead to their salvation.
I also tend to think that the majority of Catholics do not believe that molestation is ok because it is "gods will"
Just my humble pagan thoughts.

Most people don't follow the Vatican. 99.9% of Christians will tell you that they don't like how the Vatican is dealing with these cases, but the great thing is we don't believe in and follow the Vatican, we believe in and follow God.
It's the same as me asking you why you think it's a good thing that we are still fighting in Iraq. I mean, that's what Bush feels, so you obviously must agree because he is your president right? No, just like Americans, Catholics have the ability to think and act on their own. It's amazing how that works isn't it?!?

You obviously don't know much about what you are talking about.
The catholics and the next (last ) Pope have a big role to play yet.
God had no hand in this sinful act of man. He neither condoned nor aided in it.
When you scrape your knee on the playground did God order that or are you perhaps clumsy?
God grieves over man's sinful nature but He will not interfere until the time He promised to.

Most people were from birth taught about god, good and bad, and other things that they believe for life. People are afraid of change and hang on to things without thinking about them. In the US, most people will vote with the same party they have voted for their entire lives. They do not think about it, they just do it.
People are too afraid to look deep inside themselves and realize that the church is just like everything else that was created by man, flawed!

well as the vatican just stated AGAIN---the only way to heaven is to be a catholic.
though I might remind them of the teaching of 'Jesus'---'no good tree can produce bad fruit. if ya got a bad tree, you are supposed to cut it down and burn it."
though many of the 'protesting daughters' defy 'jesus' and simply PRUNED the tree.

Perhaps you should do a bit more research on this very difficult matter before you make up your mind based on a single movie.
