Please, if you are for peace, go to the link and just listen. We want peace. Our children want peace. The world needs peace. I know I'm just a small voice, and that I don't make a huge difference, but still, just a small one the size of an atom is worth it. Who else feels this?

On this website as well as when on your door step (or anywhere else) JW's always post scriptures and make scriptural references. While others simply make assumptions and try to distort JW's beliefs. JW's are confident in what they are saying and always use the scriptures to back them up. Sometimes you have seen someone post like 30 scriptures just to prove one point. Others just reference you to some website that will give you false info about the witnesses. Rather than giving you the truth, which can only be found in the bible or in bible based publications, which is the sole source of JW's information.

"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." (2Timothy 3:16,17)

President Bush will interrupt his summer vacation in Crawford, Texas, next week to attend the third summit meeting of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, or SPP, slated for Aug. 20 and 21 in Montebello, Quebec, at the five-star Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello resort.
North American Union is in development, it is being suggested that a continental-wide African Union is coming as well. A WND report indicates that "while the AU is still in a formative state, it's already officially designated by an emblem, a flag, an anthem, a central bank, and unified continental military force."

We're told that a prince of Roman descent - the prophesied Antichrist - is going to confirm a covenant of peace seven years in length between Israel and her enemies

Bush will meet with Mexico's President Felipe Calderon and Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the event.

The meeting has been hidden in a cloud of secrecy until WND obtained from an Access to Informatio

I need some scripture from the Bible to read.
A lot is going on in my life, and it's really overwhelming.
I have my first day of high school next week and I'm afraid I'll have a panic attack like I do a lot. My mom might have to get surgery for her heart problems. And so much more that is hard dealing with and I'm scared and worried and I just need some encouraging scripture to read.

I'm not looking for a major miracle, mind you---at least nothing like raising the dead, or ending the war in Iraq. No, the miracle I want is to have one day without seeing all of the bashing posts the fundamentalists put up about Atheists.

Now, before everyone says, "But it goes two ways, Atheists always say this and that about Christians....", let me point out something:

We Atheists do point out that fundamentalist Christians are narrow-minded and judgemental, and some say it with less tact than others. However......

The thing that is most aggravating about the fundamentalist's posts is that they tell us we are going to be tortured for eternity. I find it most insulting that they have the arrogance of assuming that we deserve such punishment. Now, it could just be me, but I think this attitude of "Oh, you'll pay, & I'll be glad to see it", is a bit worse than what I've seen Atheists post about fundamentalists.

Anyway, anybody think I'll see this miracle any time soon?

Dinosaurs are referred to in several Bible books. The book of Job describes two dinosaurs. One is described in chapter 40 starting at verse 15, and the other in chapter 41 starting at verse 1. We think you will agree that 1½ chapters about dinosaurs is a lot—since most people do not even realize that they are mentioned in the Bible. (Actually reading the Bible would help, though.) Isn't that neat, Since humans are in the Bible, we unconsciously think that dinosaurs were extinct—and therefore not mentioned in the Bible. As you have just seen, the Bible not only refers to dinosaurs, but has detailed information about two of them.Unfortunately, our public school system and the media have convinced us that dinosaurs were extinct at least 60 million years before man appeared on earth. They have done such a good job in this area that we can not imagine people and dinosaurs living at the same time. Isn't that interesting?

And if so, is it FAIR to selectively emphasize the texts and passages which are to be followed and ignore others? You have to admit that the Bible contains some pretty messed up regulations and codes of behavior (general treatment of women and nonbelievers comes to mind).

But how is it that someone can believe in a literal verbatim interpretation of some sections, but believe in a loose figurative interpretation of other sections?

I can understand that if you believe that the Bible was written and composed by humans and mortals; of course, it would then follow that its source is NOT entirely infallible, thereby throwing a huge monkey wrench into the cogwheel of faith.

But otherwise, how can there be any middle ground here? Either it's all completely accurate and contains all eternal truths, or it's all completely inaccurate and contains no eternal truths. Is there a third option?

Do these problems solely rest upon human mistranslations and misinterpretations?

How can a human mind possibly determine that something is limitless when it lacks the capacity to comprehend limitlessness?

All the things that humanity ascribes limitlessness to (not that many) are vague concepts generally of magnitudes that any given person finds difficult to understand. There is no means at all for them to determine that there is no limit to whatever they refer to, and yet they dare to assume it.

To some extent, when I was younger I might have accepted the notion of there being an incredibly powerful and invisible being out there..... but an Omnipotent one is just ludicrous. It just sounds like a pathetic attempt at anticompetitive practice, to avoid someone coming along and claiming "my god is stronger than yours".

Please stop claiming that your current Pope was "Forced" or "Conscripted" into joining the Hitler Youth, okay? Look it up yourself if you don't believe me when I tell you that is NOT TRUE. In fact, nobody was FORCED to join the Hitler Youth.

There were many benefits to joining the Hitler Youth that others didn't receive. That isn't "forced". That isn't "conscripted".

Your current Pope himself ADMITTED that the reason he joined is because he wanted to get into the very best School in Town. You had to be Hitler Youth to get in.

That is not FORCED. That was a CHOICE.

LOOK IT UP!!

I personally think that the main reason atheists and theists argue on here is their differing opinions on just what can be classed as proof.

For atheists; everything needs to be subject to the scientific method and to be tested, experimented upon and confirmed to the highest degree of accuracy possible. If it still holds up, it can be regarded as true.

For theists, to 100% believe in something, the strictness of the scientific method is not required.

For example, there is no scientific evidence that could ever suggest a person could be crucified, lie dead for 3 days and then come back to life.
Theists require faith to jump the gap left where to theists, it would be filled with the scientific method.

I don't want to suggest faith is any less valid, (I wouldn't want to offend anyone), but is this an accurate observation as to why people argue on here till they're blue in the face?

They both feel they have 100% proof and as a result won't compromise for anyone?

This is in response to some nut abusing other regulars. I just thought I'd counter it with positive things, because those mentioned are good people, some of them great friends of mine.

Anyone with the word "Atheist" in their name is simply stating who they are as part of their identity. Live and let live, all!

Gawdzilla is incredibly interesting. I don't answer the questions, but I think they're unique.

HypnoPope is attention getting. Some questions of his I came across are original and well said.

Pangel is a peacemaker and tries to show love to the world, which is what we desperately need more of. Good job Pangel!

Laptop Jesus is opinionated, but that's not bad, it's what makes him/her unique. What kind of world would we have if everyone was the same? Bland and BORING!

Deke speaks his mind and I respect him for that.

Squirrel and Mullah liven up this place. It gets so serious in here. I'm happy they break the tension.

little or no hope left? Are there any cases in which this has happened even while going through a divorce? What were the circumstances and how long did it take? I have a friend who was getting a divorce, they were each dating different people but she prayed for four months straight and got her family back.

In my previous question I asked why God hadn't healed amputees. Since salamanders can easily regrow limbs, shouldn't this be fairly easy for God to accomplish? Several people assured me that god will heal amputees.

Since, in the history of humanity, there are millions of amputees, can you please point to one documented case in which an amputee has regrown a limb? Thanks!
