i dont be to be offensive but i was wondering why were the jews exiled to egypt for nearly 3000 years.

i dont mean to be offensive and i hope that i have got my facts right.

this happned a long time ago so no silly answers please

They weren't exiled. They went voluntarily. Largely led by Joseph who had become a very important man in the Nation that was then called "Egypt".

Over time, they began to be oppressed badly by natives of the region and other immigants to the region.

I believe they were "only" in Egypt for about 400 years before Moses finally led them away. Joseph was sold by his brothers and ended up as 2nd in command to the Pharoah. Eventually, all his family... and it was a large one- joined him there. By and by, the hebrews became such an overwhelming force in the area that the Pharoah made them slaves. I'm sure you know the story about how G-d and Moses convinced Pharoah to "Let my people go".

They wernt Jews yet, just Israelites. Judaism came when they left Egypt with Moses and converted to Judaism at Mount Sinai
