How can a human mind possibly determine that something is limitless when it lacks the capacity to comprehend limitlessness?

All the things that humanity ascribes limitlessness to (not that many) are vague concepts generally of magnitudes that any given person finds difficult to understand. There is no means at all for them to determine that there is no limit to whatever they refer to, and yet they dare to assume it.

To some extent, when I was younger I might have accepted the notion of there being an incredibly powerful and invisible being out there..... but an Omnipotent one is just ludicrous. It just sounds like a pathetic attempt at anticompetitive practice, to avoid someone coming along and claiming "my god is stronger than yours".

... Ok... which numbnut has been going through this question's answer-array and giving thumbs down to the good answers and thumbs up to the bad ones?
I'm seeing an awful lot of nonsense here. I'd laugh at anyone claiming to understand limitlessness if it wasn't so worrisome that they honestly believe they do.

Limitlessness? Like number-sequences? Then again, you cannot prove that they are limitless as they're just proxies for real data anyway. It isn't as though you can prove other than by the limitation on human life (circumstantial evidence) that it would be impossible to count to the end of one of those anyway.

Omnipotence? It only means ALL the power rather than unlimited power, implying there is a finite amount.... and if any other one of us has anything that could be defined as power, then the initial entity in question is not Omnipotent. Only existence itself is omnipotent, and that is through virtue of the fact that it is omni-everything.

I know that the great Seytnurr isn't omnipotent, no matter how strong and powerful he might be... or he would lack definition. We certainly have a definition of him though.

"Great" has a limit. We know what a limit is, for crying out loud, there's a dictionary for a reason! We don't have to comprehend limitlessness, we just realize that it's infinite. There's no ending. We believe in perfect and omnipotent being (UM...GOD??) because He's got limitless power and love, and it's just better to believe in something that will always love you no matter what.

We are not worthy to be in his presence! He is Holy! we would die if we saw him. that is why we can't see him. read the book of Isaiah.
it's very simple to understand. God is limitless. what is so hard about that? we are warned not to limit God. what you don't understand should not be an excuse to bring God down on your level. God is the most High and is in a lofty place and should remain there. not at an equal level with you...

You are correct in thinking that limitless is beyoned human comprehension. Your flaw, however, is in thinking that limitless = impossible. If God exists that He in fact must be limitless.

It's not about my God being stronger than yours. I would contend that if my God exists then yours doesn't. The idea of mulitple gods is flawed logic.

God defines himself by His characteristics.

He doesn't just have love, He is love.
He doesn't just have mercy, He is mercy.
He doesn't just have justice, He is justice.

So, He doesn't just have power, He is power.
The definitions begin with Him.

So, if you took everyone who ever lived and every demon in hell and we call came against God -- then it would still be nothing for the One who defines power.

Just because it is difficult for you to comprehend, doesn't make it untrue. Ask God to help you understand. There are millions of things you and I don't know but we still manage to live.

God has revealed Himself in His Word and through His Son.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." Proverbs 3:5-13

"O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." Psalms 139:1-12

"Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men,..." 2 Timothy 2:1-2
