I'm not looking for a major miracle, mind you---at least nothing like raising the dead, or ending the war in Iraq. No, the miracle I want is to have one day without seeing all of the bashing posts the fundamentalists put up about Atheists.
Now, before everyone says, "But it goes two ways, Atheists always say this and that about Christians....", let me point out something:
We Atheists do point out that fundamentalist Christians are narrow-minded and judgemental, and some say it with less tact than others. However......
The thing that is most aggravating about the fundamentalist's posts is that they tell us we are going to be tortured for eternity. I find it most insulting that they have the arrogance of assuming that we deserve such punishment. Now, it could just be me, but I think this attitude of "Oh, you'll pay, & I'll be glad to see it", is a bit worse than what I've seen Atheists post about fundamentalists.
Anyway, anybody think I'll see this miracle any time soon?

I agree Darth, I've never understood how it is that they rationalize attacking other denominations of Christianity, either.

I have to AGREE with YOU...its terrible here...and I as a Christian even get reprimanded by some of "those" people...
Strange, I thought this was a "FREE" country, and you could believe ANYTHING
you wanted...but it seems here lately, some
think THEY know better...and this needs to stop...alot of people are getting hurt here because of these people...they need to
BACK OFF....I will believe as I wish and I
will ACT HOW I WANT TO...NO MATTER IF CERTAIN PEOPLE HERE LIKE IT OR NOT...YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE "ME" OR ANYONE ELSE.!!!!

good question! definite, they sometimes do while Atheists are actually not present day. in reality, their loss of religion and opposition to miracles might preclude the miracles from occurring, so being a detriment to miracles might reason believers to prefer to wish with those of religion in straight forward terms of direction. besides to that, in spite of if an Atheist observed a miracle they're in all probability to disclaim it and this could be a undesirable ingredient spiritually speaking and suitable that they don't ensue in any respect fairly than attempt to snuff out giving the honor to God. it would desire to even make the healed individual start to doubt if a mocker or doubter grew to become into there.

I can see how this type of Christ like love has been corrupted and twisted by those that claim the spiritual rebirth. This is not the fruit of the Holy Spirit that I am familiar with. I cannot speak for them. But I can speak for myself. When I was born again, God gave me the commission to love. Now that the new nature has taken over, I have no need to judge but only to love others. So it is my sincere hope that I personally have not placed guilt upon those that are receptive to the Good News. That is why it is called Good News - it should make people happy and hopeful. I am just deeply saddened that there are those that choose a different route, other than Christ's lead, to spread the Gospel.

Knowledge is divine. The Logos was the perfect thought that created the Universe. You see part of that perfect thought at www. lostsoulsflu.com in the about page where the Logos is expressed mathematically. It was arrived at transcendentally as it is impossible for the human mind to acquire from experience (scientifically) -- Kant said it existed but was impossible to reach. The experience of the mindful acquisition of the Logos is partially explained there. It is philosophically impossible to do what was done in the paper, but, as a converstaion with God, there it is: the root of everything, a miracle in thought: the definition of mass, the fine structure constant, the equations of diffusion, correction to relativity and simplification of quantum mechanics, the missing universal constant, the distribution of dark energy.... : all in ten pages (and there is so much more to write about, including Turing machines, morality and development of free-will all from this same Logos). All by one person with a gift.

Christians need to wake up and see that Hell doesn't exist except in the twisted mind of Dante, and that scare tactics do more harm than good. If anything, these christians that threaten with hell, are pushing people away from God. How can someone love a God who tortures his children for eternity? Isn't our short imperfect painful life enough? God told us plain and simple, the price for sin is death itself. Nothing more than that. After death, you just cease to exist. "The dead know nothing." Ecclesiastes 9:5

Yeah, I'll start holding my breath waiting for that miracle right now.
(I haven't read any of the answers to this question yet. I'll be interested to see how many of them are just the kind of fundamentalist vitriol you described...)

The "going to hell" thing doesn't bother me. Why should it? Are they arrogant? Sure they are. It doesn't really matter, though.
The ones who really make me laugh are those who tell other Christians they're not real Christians (the Protestant/Catholic thing). That's some type of supreme arrogance.

I don't think it reasonable for an atheist to expect miracles, I didn't even think they believed in them.

We are ALL arrogant and deserve Hell.
Those who deny God are very arrogant
and hostile to those who are at least searching
for truth.
